Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I don't know about his politics, but his version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World is great.

LOL!  My grandfather did Izzy's funeral, his ashes filled an urn the size of a trashcan full!

The 19th century ruler of Hawaii,
King Kamehameha.

He was both a king and a warrior conqueror.
I believe his children inherited the throne for about a century.

John DeSoto, one of the first good American motocross racers. He's been a city councilman in Honolulu for years now, but he still gets out and races a couple times a year, even making it out to the mainland. Also surfs and is a heck of a nice guy! [:)]
