HI all, Thinking about thinning the collection. Is there a site on net that provides realistic gun values? |
|
gunbroker.com You can see what they actually sell for. There is a slight ebay-craze to some auctions, wherein the bidders lose track of the actual worth of the item and just want to "win" the auction, but it is still the best site to research for real world prices. |
pretty much, since demand can fluctuate daily, the "gun value" guides will give you a ballpark figure, but gunbroker is a more accurate judge of current market value. |

There is a way to look at completed auctions, if you have an account. One of the pulldown tabs above the option gives you options on how to sort the results, and one of the sorting options is by completed auctions. One problem with gunbroker is that people will continually list the same gun over and over again at a higher than market price so you will see alot of duplicate listings. Usually on those you can at least get an idea about price by seeing around where the bidding stopped. Searching the EE here and elitedealseeker.com (allows you to search back to 30+ days) will allow you to see what certain guns have been priced at in private sales and whether or not they have sold. |

As I mentioned, the equipment exchange here and other sites (you can use elitedealseeker to search multiple sites at once) can give you an idea of what other people are asking for guns and then hopefully you would be able to figure out if they sold for that amount. This is not as useful a method for rarer guns since they don't come up for sale as often (I believe you said you are wanting to sell an Aug). There are other internet auction sites (auctionarms.com I believe is one), but they don't get nearly the traffic that gunbroker does so I don't use them for research. You can also use the site gunsamerica.com to research prices. However, this pretty much just shows you seller's ads and how much they ask for them. You may be able to get a rough idea for the market price, but there is no way (that I am aware of) to determine whether or not the gun actually sold at that price. Also, if you are looking to buy guns, people aren't the best about removing guns that have sold so you may end up finding that the gun you wanted was sold. |
