my daughter has a Nano.

I have an extensive collection of music and she would like a couple songs

she tells me that we can't add stuff to her Nano w/o the ipod deleting the stuff that's on it if we don't have the same songs as it, on my computer.

is there software out there that I can manage the songs on her ipod w/o unwillingly deleting songs?

I"m glad I have a Sansa, no BS like this to deal with.

please help a iClueless guy out!

Go into the settings for Itunes and turn off Autosync.

I'm not at home so I can't give you a step by step, I'll post it when I get home if you haven't gotten it by then

Flash the device with the Rockbox firmware and forget all that Apple/iTunes crap. Plug, drag, drop, and play. I love it.

I use a program called Music Rescue. It is free and very easy to use, just plug in the iPod and thats it.

Select "manually manage music" in iTunes on her host computer, then anytime she connects to another computer iTunes won't eat her music.  On that computer you can add to the itunes library, and then transfer to the iPod.

I've used 3 different computers to manage my iPod with no trouble.

Not to hijack the thread, but when I tried  to manually sync my Itunes library (which I store on an external harddrive), Itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the library of music to sync onto the Ipod. I thought it just needed to be told what drive to look in, but its still doesn't "see" the music.
