I posted right after Sept. 11th how a few folks approached me at work bug eyed asking me about firearms since I was known as the resident "gun nut" ( a badge that I wear proudly, BTW :) ) Anyway, I gave my advise. Today, one of them {can't be that dumb, he was a missle tech on a nuke boat) comes back and tells me he bought what I told him to get, and the guy at the gun shop had a woody ;). Too bad, now he's got a couple of nice guns and is still clueless. I told him to get some training (I don't want to do it if I don't have to) As you can probably tell, I'm not the nuturing type [smoke] |

Dude, since you are one of those "gun nut" types, and go every week to the gun store to hang out, don't you send them to a certian FFL? That is what I do, and I make sure to tell them, "say c-rock sent ya, he will treat you good". Since my FFL is a one-man shop, he knows who sent them. Helps me out, I get some deals, boxes of ammo tossed my way. Friendly smile and a handshake when I walk in the door. Just a thought. c-rock |

Waldo - you did good. But now, help him out. We're going to lose our RKBA if we don't encourage more shooters. In case you didn't notice, we live in what is becoming more and more a democracy - and we're in the minority. You may not be the "nurturing type", but bite the bullet. At least try to find someone this guy can go get some instruction from. Clueless gun owners are our worst enemy. |

Hehe, C-rock, I'm probably the last guy you'd *ever* see hanging out in a gunshop. I actually did point him in the direction of a decent FFL, he just decided to patronize one closer to his home. Which is fine. Anyway, the dealer didn't argue with him or try and steer him from my suggestions. I'm going to try to get him to join a club that I belong to. They have decent, certified NRA instructors that can work on a beginner level and the price is fantastic! (free with membership and the membership is cheap). I'm not sure if I can talk them into it or not, even though it's one of the best club values I've ever seen. I'll try. |
