I'd like a couple cameras that can watch some blind spots around my house.  I would need NV also.  I'm not sure what to get or how I can monitor them.

What I'd like to do if possible, is feed the cameras into an input of my VCR/DVD so I can switch from TV to the cameras when ever I feel like it by using my remote.

Two ways to go wireless and corded. The problem with wireless is that someone else can intercept and they tend to go out in thunderstorms.

Another thing to consider is IP cameras, meaning that they can record directly into your computer. they can be wired or wireless--  They can be set for "motion sensor" too, so they only record when someone is in the frame.

Price: ca. $100 wired, $150+ wireless, and more for outdoor cameras.

ETA

They also can be accessed remotely, say, from your office.
