Need a scope for a 22. 1" tube.   I have spent WAY too much on firearms ammo & reloading components in the last few mo's & funds are limited.

A swarovski is out of the question.  Who makes a good cheapo?

I put a Nikon 4X32 on my 10/22 and it's fantastic.  Lifetime warranty, too...ran about $110.

I have a Tasco 3x9x32 or someting like that  I bought 16 years ago.
Have had it on my 16 year old 10/22 since it was mine.
Have no problem, always holds zero and have dropped that more times then I care to remember gritting my teeth.
Its a .22 go cheap and have fun with it.
Think it was 39.00

Good choice. Leupold makes an outstanding 4X too, but it'll run a couple bucks more.

Don't know what you call cheapo. $220?  But this scope rocks!  The fine reticle really helps.

I really like mine.

Looks nice too.

I have a 32$ tasco variable 3x9 on my 10/22T right now

I will be upgrading it but it serves it's plinking purpose for now

If it is a general all-around plinker, get yourself a Bushnell 1.5x4x20mm.
It will do for all the plinking ranges you will shoot. The small tube eliminates
parallax error, without having an adj. objective.
Can be found for around $69

cheapo = less than $100. Just need one that works. Thinking bushnell or a tasco. This is going on a (sacrilage i know) marin 39A. I AM NOT drilling or tapping, using a side mount. My eyes aren't so great anymore & the groundhogs are mocking me. I am shooting at about 50 to 100 yds. Don't laugh I used to do this w/ a pistol, it pisses me off that I had to go to a rifle in the first place. (got hit in the eye/nose w a claw hammer.)
My eye is getting better SLOWLY, but the hogs are out now.

so which is better for $39 tasco or bushnell. they each make one in that range.

One strange thing about the eye, I can see better in the dark out of the right one than I used to. Not dilating properly I think.

I have a cheap simmons 22mag.  It works well for what it is.

That is one clean looking 10/22 by the way. Who built it?

my opinion on the highlighted question is that either one of them will serve as a cheap scope.

as I said I have the cheap 30 dollar tasco and it is just for plinking.

a buddy of mine tried the cheap bushnell on a 38-55 single shot and it didn't fair well.

changed it off to his .22 and it is fine again for plinking.

The absolute best scope for the money is the Simmons 8-point 3-9x40 with the red band on the elevation turret.  The red band signifies the improved series with extended eye relief.  Less than $40 and enough scope for 200 yards on any rifle.  The next best is the Simmons 4-12x40 which is $49.99 at WalMart.  It also has the red band.  Both scopes hold their zero with a .30-06 and .308, so a .22LR is not a problem.

Try the Swift 4x32. It is a true rimfire scope with the parallax set at 50 yards. I don't see it offered on their website anymore, but they are still for sale on the net. Swift scopes

You shouldn't need a side mount for your 39A. You can get a one or two piece base that will fit in the predrilled holes on top of your receiver. Here is the Brownells info for the one piece.

MARLIN - 39A. #90: One-piece base
Stock Number 955-010-090
#90 Base $8.49

I have had great luck with a Williams Foolproof. This gun has killed untold critters for me.

A Foolproof is about the same price as a low end scope. Just a thought. Good luck with your whistle pigs.

They're great little scopes for 22s.

Many centerfire scopes simply won't have the reticule in the same focal plane as the target at less than 50 yards.  The 22 Mag doesn't have that problem.

+1, that's what is on my 10/22.  Natchez Shooters Supply sometimes has factory refurbs for under $100.  Mine is a refurb but you'd never know it just by looking at it.

scopes are one of those things that you get what you pay for.  So get one that is about the same price as your .22 that has the options you want and you'd be set.

I like the williams peep sights, I have a set on a winchester 30-30 that I had cut down & crowned. Even cut it gives a better sight radius & the fiber optic on the end does draw the eye.

The problem still is my eye, still a little fuzzy, might do the williams later as once again, you don't have to drill the reciever.

This is hopefully a temporary solution & I can go back to irons.

My beef with the .22 Mag is the lack of decent eye relief.

I've got a Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 on my 10/22. Normally I wouldn't put that much magnification on a .22...but I couldn't afford a new scope at the time and I wasn't butchering my deer rifle so I took what I had on my Savage .223 off.

It's actually very nice to have and I think I'm just going to pick up another one to put back on the Savage. Paid like 105$ I think.
