2008.

- Congress passes new Fairness Doctrine.  Bush signs bill into law.  Law mandates "balancing" of broadcast mediums, and strengthens limitations on political speech for non-media outlets such as blogs, extending the range of offenses that warrant prison time.

- Hillary Clinton wins Presidential election, House and Senate keep current balances with a nominal advantage to Democrats but a de facto heavy advantage to the left wing.

2009.

- Hillary Clinton takes office.  Bouyed by Democratic dominance, a flurry of legislative activity ensues.  Taxes are hiked across the board, a "comprehensive" immigration amnesty bill is passed, a healthcare nationalization bill is passed, as well as a new Assault Weapons ban (with no grandfather clause), and defunding of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and the cessation of aid to those governments.

- Muted opposition from Republicans, but the right wing blogosphere and the vestigial right wing media raise an uproar.  First felony prosecutions and convictions under the Fairness Doctrine proceed.

- Fairness Doctrine convictions appealed on 1st Amendment grounds.  Democrats raise SCOTUS justice cap to 15 to "re-balance the court towards the mainstream".  Republican attempts to filibuster short circuited by untimely leaks of bribe taking, infidelity, and Justice Department investigations.

2009

- Fairness Doctrine convictions upheld by packed SCOTUS.

2010

- Increasing use of Federal agencies to harass administration oponents.

- Tax increases, along with dramatically increased Federal deficit spending send economy into nosedive.  Stagflation sets in.

- Widespread public discontent not reflected on the airwaves or in the election booth. Democrats increase their positions in Congress dramatically, notably with far left wing candidates.  Rumors of voter fraud with computerized polling stations.

2011

- Peaceful anti-government demonstrations organized by grass-roots groups suppressed in D.C. by riot police.
