Someone just recently started an O_P bashing thread. I just wanted to state that Old Painless is good to go. He is one of the nicest guys on the board. He makes his posts to inform people and gets no monetary gain, Thanks Old Painless for the posts and sharing the knowledge! |

OP takes the stuff that us chairbourn rangers spend half our lives flapping our gums about and he just plain shoots stuff and takes great pictures . Sounds simple but I have got to think it takes lots of time to set up and clean up all that stuff even if the actual shooting stuff part is fun. Bottom line is the gentleman is very entertaining to me so if somebody is busting his chops I would request that they just go away and let those of us who like and watch OP do our thing! I never met or talked to the man but I look foward to doing so some day. If he has cut some type of deal with some sponsers (I believe I saw some stuff around the edges of his websight) I hope he makes a bundle off of it but most likely it will just cut some |
Thanks guys for the kind words.  The other poster sent me an IM and apologized. We are good to go, no hard feelings. I do not control the ads on the site. We can block some types of ads, such as mild porn, and we do. But the other ads are just randomly posted. We do not make much off of the ads and do not make enough to even pay Ponyboy for his bandwidth costs. But every little bit helps. As far as that goes, I wish the Brady Campaign would pay to run ads on the site. Wouldn't that be the ultimate irony.  |
Many thanks. That's what we post it for. I get lots of e-mails from shooters that say it has answered some questions for them. I had a career in training. I enjoy showing folks how to do things and teaching them some facts about how firearms and bullets work. Plus, I enjoy doing it. Shooting stuff is fun, after all.  |
Thats what its all about O_P. We benefit from your knowledge and free time. Especially when some of us don't have much free time. |

I distinctly disagree with O_P about some things, but he has two unbending charactaristics that are rare these days--honesty and integrity. That makes him 100% A-OK in my book. I can civilly disagree with an honest person. It's the lying weasels I hate. Plus, who else would have inspired me to ruin my gas mileage for months by hauling 20+ water-filled gallon milk jugs in the back of my Jeep, stockpiling them and waiting for the chance to blow them up the way he does? :D |
I remember. Keep working and look forward to retirement. It's as much fun as you always imagined.

If you've never had the pleasure of meeting him, then you know nothing of the man behind the BoT's. If there's a nicer, kinder, smarter and great guy I'd sure like to meet him They don't come any better than he and that's a fact. He's a great Christian man and we all can learn a lot from him...shooting or otherwise. HH ETA: If you've never been to a funshow with him, it's like walking around with an encyclopedia--there just isn't much he doesn't know.

Meeting guys like HoustonHusker kind of makes you appreciate what a great site this is. He turned out to be just as fine a felow as he seems to be on line. And it's always fun to look for stuff at the gun show with his money.

This is not the first time that someone has suffered from having his name attached to liberal causes. A few years ago, one of the big-name dog food producers (Alpo, IIRC) had their brand advertised on some kind of gun-bashing TV show. They immediately issued an explaination, saying that they pay an ad agency to put their name before the public, and didn't (at that time) check to make sure that the shows they were 'sponsoring' were agreeable to them. They said that they would be more careful to make sure that it would not happen again. |
Oh well, that's not the case here. We just allow random advertisers to rent the ad space on the site. Doesn't really make much money, but every little bit helps. If a liberal cause rents the space, their money goes to a good cause. |
No problem with the ads O_P, its the content that counts. I have referred a lot of shooters to your site and have always got positive feedback. Keep up the good work. |
