I had some friends over a few days ago for a range party and at the end of the day one of them had fallen in love with my Makarov. I helped him and he found one he wants to buy and a FFL to transfer it.

Here's the problem. He's 18 so he can only do a FTF. His parents have some rifles and a gun friendly. What should I advise him to do? I don't want my friend jammed up for a "Straw-Man" or anything but he really wants a Mak.

He's also going to college in a USAF ROTC program and living in dorms so he will have to leave it with his parents fo a while.

Sell him yours, buy yourself a new one.

+1.  Do your bud a favor.  There is nothing illegal about selling him yours.  You honestly bought it for yourself, so there is no risk of straw purchase claims.

It's my Dad's. I still live with my parents so all our guns are in the same safe so I've come to think of it as mine, but it's not. And my Dad love the Mak just as much as my friend does.

Maybe a friend or relative will buy him a gift?
