Ok so before I get started, on this I dont have any pics since the phone that I have in a relic and doesnt have a camera so sorry guys you are just going to have to imagine this if you havent seen it. Ok so I was on my way home tonight after work and after getting through an intersection here in queen creek, the traffic came to almost a complete stop. I thought there was an accident at first since there was a motorcycle and a Scion toaster car on the side of the road. But on closer inspection I noticed that there were some nylon webbing straps that were attached to the back of the Scion and were tied to somewhere on the bike. So is it me or does this seem a little more than dangerous? I mean towing a car acan get interesting but towing a motorcycle behind a car while the rider is hanging on and hoping he doesnt fall? I dont know. I have never even heard of anything like that But since there was heavy traffic at that time on the road it seemed pretty foolish. So have any of you seen anythng like that or done that? Is it really not as dangerous as I think it is. Oh yeah and before you ask I have been riding motorcycles for a long time

| Back when I was a kid riding motorcycles I needed a tow one day, my Dad got the idea to run a rope to the center of the handlebars, loop it a couple of times around the bars and tow it that way. Going to the center of the handlebars meant there wasn't any side pull, and a simple loop meant the bike wasn't tied to the car, the rider held one end of the loop and if something wasn't right all he had to do was let loose and the rope would release, I wasn't so sure, but guess what....it worked! It got me home with no problems at all. |
Thats cool and I am glad that it worked for you and it wounds like a safer thing than what I saw today. What I saw were two seperate straps fromthe back corners of the Scion that led to somewhere on the bike. But then again by that time I had decided that it was a bad idea and never looked to see where the straps were tied to. Years ago (I was 14) a friend asked me to help him start a bike that he had gotten from some guy. Well when I got there he had tied the new bike, complete with flat tires to the old bike and was wanting me to tow him with a dirt bike to try and pull start the other bike. . I thought that it was a bad idea but he said it would be ok . So after looking at the rea tire and seeing that it was tubeless and that all that would happen when it was put in gear would be that the tire would spin, I convinced him that it was a bad idea and he gave up until he got the tires fixed. But by then he had the battery replaced and I didnt need to help him start it. But somehow I thought that if we didn that I was going to end up all road rashed |
