I got an AMD 65 the other day and took it out shooting for the first time. As far as I know, it's "new" from century. Anyway, I was getting weak ejection and some fail-to-ejects, most likely due to the weak ejecting. My other AK throws the brass like 10+ feet. The AMD-65 was ejecting so weak that they were landing on the bench I was shooting from. What can I do to fix this? |
There may be a leak in the gas tube or the 45' angle gas port. |
| Change out the bolt/ejector and check for any gas leaks. The hole thats drilled into the barrel could also be clogged and/or not big enough, canted, etc. Also check to make sure the slide rails arent binding the bolt carrier any, causing it to drag and slow down the bolt carrier in recoil. |

Funny you post this- I have a Century AMD-65 build that throws the cartridges the most violent of any of my AK's. Might just be a weak recoil spring in my case. The bolt parts look REALLY worn on mine- they've seen alot of use before being built into my gun. My major complaint wiht my Century build was it shot so low that I had to sink the front sight into the base, and found the original site already broken, probably as the Century Monkey was trying to compensate for the low zero I had to buy a new sight for and sink deep. |
| Mine shoots great, and dead on the irons. My bolt and bolt carrier look brand new. They are pretty tight fitting as well. The recoil spring has a buffer on the back of it (not that it matters) and appears to be "new". I guess I'm stumped. The gas piston looks pristine, everything appears to be "new". |
