Saturday june 2, i went to the sight were my house is being built. i have a 5 acre trac on lake michigan. my neighbor who i met for the first time also has a 5 acre lot right next to mine. Pretty nice guy Polish with a accent. we were walkin and talking when i saw a live trap on his property. i asked if the area had varmint problems or what. he replied no he sets it for fun. i asked well what do you mean. he replied well before i go home (he doesnt live there its his weekend house) he sets it, when he comes back a week or so later he see's what he gets. Well lets just say we arnt the best of friends anymore. i exploded telling him how cruel he was and how unhumain it was and so on being a real conservationist. now i hunt so im not against killing animals but in a humain way. but to know that he is starving them for weeks on end. i couldnt handle it. the trap is big enough to fit a good size dog in so who knows what he could trap. i called the DNR and they said as long as it is a "LIVE" trap and is on his property he isnt doing anything wrong. i was outraged and still am. would any of you do anything like that or am i the only one who cares about things like that. what are your thoughts and comments. Mr. Jarzebski-h.gif-me |
i guess not wisconsin DNR didnt mention it |
yeah well he would know who did it. i jammed the release pad with a rock that way it wont trigger and it wont look to obviouse that i did it. but that is a short term fix....sigh |
I agree, mind your buisness. That kind of shit is typical of liberals. Are you one? |
yeah i read that just now. but those rules are.......Vague and the DNR officer told me that if it is a "live" trap ment to catch varmints and Nosiness animals. he isnt breaking any laws. tommorow i plane on calling agian to confirm what the first officer said. |

I understand how you feel about his method but instead of being enemies forever perhaps you could check the trap everyday and release the critter when he's not home. After all, you might do a little target shooting on your property and you don't want enemies calling the man on you every five minutes. Just my .02 |
no not at all. but im also not a one to keep quiet when i see something wrong. you cant say that there is nothing wrong with that. |
But you were already told by DNR that he is doing nothing against the law, so now you plan on taking it further? It is his property, he isn't doing anything illegal and you went off on him because you have different feelings than him on the ethics of trapping animals? Give it a rest. |
Nah, man. It's about checking the traps. The regs state that traps need to be checked daily. Apparently there's a loophole that they can't regulate non-game trapping. The ethics should be the same. If you're gonna trap, check the damn trap. If you can't check the damn trap, have someone else check it for you. |
I would but i dont plan on living there untill the kids go off to college or what ever they decide. but i have a home away from home because the land right behind me is 180 acres of woods owned by my wifes sister and right next to that is 300 acres of state land. the plan so far is to hopefully get a DNR officer to come out and tell him that what he is doing is not legal and it needs to stop. after that freindship might be mended.....atleast i am willing to try. besids were i live now (park Ridge IL,) is filled with polish and i have alot of polish friends. and if it is one thing i learned a expensive bottle of vodka and some sausage fixs EVERYTHING |
i have no problem with traping and i have traped many animals. but i do it with strong ethics and even if i have to treck through the nastiest shit on the planet i will check those traps. (WOW is that doesnt sound Preachy but it is the truth) (edit) |
