For some strange reason I felt that my Hi-Point 9mm Carbine was not complete without a suppressor. Off it went to the gunsmith and, viola, threaded barrel. Unfortunately the front sight base was too long to allow the thread adaptor to fully seat. Easy enough to fix so off I went to our machine shop at work where the machinist quickly broke the base into 4 pieces while clamping it into the milling machine. I figured it would cost me ten or fifteen bucks so I gave Hi-Point a call. The lady said they didn't do just a base, I had to get the whole assembly. I asked the price. "Its a warranty item, I'll send you one". Free? Yes, free. I also wanted to put a rail on the gun so I asked about one of those. She said it should have came with one and that she would throw one in the envelope.....FREE. Today, five days after the call, the parts arrived postage paid. I have never had this type of service from ANY gun manufacturer. Not only is my carbine a great little gun but it is backed up by outstanding service. Just thought I'd share. |

Yeah, they are really good for learning malfunction drills in their pistol versions. if it weren't for a peace officer that showed up three years in a row with his high point .45 we would've have been done qualifying in 1/3 the time it actually took us to!! Really got to know some of my fellow peace officers well while we were waiting for the guy to figure out how to unjam that thing. Finally the range master on year 4 told the guy to leave the range and don't come back with that piece of s**t or he would not be allowed on the range. HI-Point has great customer service because they know you are gogin to need it a lot!! |
I've got hundreds of rounds through mine....no failures/no malfunctions. I do clean mine occasionally. |

The carbines are actually pretty cool. Great plinkers. On this board though, most replies will be they rate around Vulcan/Hesse quality, but none actually own one, just a friend or a guy they saw at the range type stories. Getting the popcorn ready for the multiple posts with examples of Hi-Points vaporizing on the firing line. |
| I like the way the Hi point carbine feels but the mag capacity leaves me cold.If they made one to take Glock mags they'd never keep up with demand.Hell,i'd buy 3 of them myself. The pistols are ugly and clunky but they work, an aquaintance has several and has no complaints. |

Look, I don't know what the story with this guys Hi-point was, I don't care. But after several years of being an elected peace officer and going to qualifications with people who 100% had to buy and supply their own equipment including handguns, I have watched what "Sh*ts the bed" and what doesn't! Relaibility as far as the guns i saw went as follows. Two Smith and wesson revolvers failed, One a Model 28-1 the frame started to bend to the right! The other the dufus had stoned down the indexer thinking it would make the gun operate smoother.Operators fault there. HK's good to go! Including an old P-7 Squeeze cocker! 1911's Kimber and Springfield, Good to go! Glock's Good to go! Smith autos, alright but they did tend to jam a bit , Double feeds and stovepipes mostly! This Sigma series and their normal 900 series! Taurus Pt-92, well lets just say the guy knows to bring lots of extra extractors next time! He broke three of them in 400 rounds! Rugers, the ones that failed seemed to be pilot error, they limp wristed, but overall exceptable for the most part. The ruger revolvers just kept going and going! Sigs, Good to go! Hi-Point, well lets just say the guy was told not come back if he still had his gun the following year,Bang bang jam, bang bang jam!! Hey if your Hi points work well for you more power to you, not owning one does not mean i do not have powers of observation or am making this up as i go, I have actually seen the gun fail over and over and over. It may have been dirty during one of the breaks i tried to trouble shoot his gun for him but he did not know how to take it apart, so i doubt he had ever cleaned it properly. |
| Hi-point has excellent customer service. Truth be told, THEY NEED IT. They have very crappy-looking products, but that doesn't mean they actually are crap. With guys like us, lets face it, looks are 80% of the sale. A HP service rep admitted to me that all Hi-Point carbine CS concerns are to be handled to absolute customer satisfaction. They obviously know that that is their most popular product, and I gotta admit.... I LOVE my Hi-point carbine. |
| When I got my carbine it was a jam-o-matic. Searching the web I didn't find any help as this is a rare occurrence. I finally gave up and sent it in for repair. It was returned in a little over a week with a new slide assembly and has worked 100% since. Not only did they complete the repair in under a week, they also threw in a couple of extra mags "for my trouble". The only manufacturer that I've found that comes close to this kind of service has been Kel-Tec. |

From their website: I just purchased a Hi-Point 9mm Luger C-9 for $189.00. I took it to my CCW class, and the instructor said the junk weapons were Hi-Point and they would put money on it. I'm here to tell you my Hi-Point 9mm Luger out-performed Glock, Beretta and Colt. So you don't have to spend big dollars for good quality - just go to Hi-Point. I know at least ten people who liked my 9mm and decided to go with your company. I think the ammo was my problem; 150 rounds and 1 jammed compared to three and six jams in the Glock. Your safety switches on the Hi-Point are far better than Glocks. I'm now looking at a 40 S&W Hi-Point. - B. Shattuck - Pontiac, MI I can't believe I've been led astray all this time..................NOTHING BUT HI POINT FOR ME FROM NOW ON!!!!!!!!!!! |
What Glocks have safety switches?
|
I think thats what they meant. THat a safety was better than the glocks system I like glocks, my finger is the safety |
Believe it or not there are some departments issuing the carbines to their guys. They were issuing them to the Mansfield OH PD (hometown of Hi-Point, btw). And, when I talked to a friend who worked there they said they had several PD's that had adopted them. There were a couple in Indiana, IIRC. Say what you will, the carbines run and they're accurate. Ugly? Yes. Clunky? Yes, but they work and if they don't Hi-Point makes it right whether you bought it or you're the 25th owner. Almost NO company has that kind of service...not Kimber, not Colt, not H&K. Yeah, they're cheap but they're American and stand behind their shit. That's something. |
