I don't see how pictures of scantily-clad women could possibly be considered a "problem". The demographics here have to be predominantly straight guys, so... what am I missing? This is kinda like yesterday, I'm out with my girlfriend shopping for bathing suits. "Oh, this top is to small!" "I feel like I'm about to pop out of this suit!" OK... and?

Trust me, it was a problem. People are unable to follow rules as to what is and is not acceptable. Because they kept toeing the line, and pushing things, BOTD went private. |
|
Some people get a little out of control with it. After all this is a firearm site, not a porn gallery. Although I have sarted a good 15 BOTD threads, I understand why it must be highly regulated. That and there are some ARFCOMettes that may find some of the images unappropriate. |
|
Look at it like this, If you came here to surf ARFCOM and was constantly editting stupid posts of people who intentionally broke the rules. how could you enjoy your time here? The mods and staff volunteer their time and it is time they could spend just doing the silly thing the rest of us do. If they say it is a problem.....I take that a face value and believe them. I see no reason to make a volunteer position any more difficult than it has to be. |
You don't actually believe that, do you? Everyone knows the mods spend time passing around the gimp suit and rubber hose when they're not punishing themselves by hanging out here. Sheesh. |
BOTD has been a team thing since before the sticky in GD was added. It now has its own separate place at the bottom of "General." Join the team to get your BOTD fix. |
Yea, but other people just break other rules. Lets ban the offensive 4-letter words too. I bet my boss would get her panties in a knot if she walked by and saw the word "cunt" on my monitor. |
Honestly. You have no idea how bad this got, with the arguments between staff/mods/users. This is one rule the Avilas decided was going to stop being broken. |
Or, you can always check out and post in my BOTD thread. ~dg84 Doorgunner's smokin' hot BOTD thread. |
Agreed, it got really out of hand, and people were getting locked/banned and it was getting to be too much. |

Forgive me, as this has likely been asked and answered numerous times, but I am curious if moving the BOTD threads to team has reduced the workload on you moderators, or made it more challenging? In the past, offending pictures/images were generally contained within a few threads(the official BOTD threads), and others would be flagged "BOTD", so people knew to view/avoid them. I know this was part of the problem, people weren't self-tagging their threads as BOTD, which likely caused problems for people at work, etc., but didn't having this more or less give you moderators a place to look for and remove inappropriate images? Now, sometimes they show up in threads you wouldn't really expect them. I guess what I am wondering, from any moderators is, have your time and efforts policing rogue BOTD threads become easier or more challenging with the current rules? On one hand, I would think it is easier now, there is no judgement, they are all out of bounds. On the other hand, they pop up almost everywhere, and now some thread titles sound like they are going to be BOTD, but they turn out to be pictures of dogs, or wildlife or whatever. Any thoughts? My guess is workload has remained the same, or possibly increased. Regardless, I think the moderators do a good job. |
I doubt so many people are willing to push the rules after they've paid for a membership. |

You all obviously fail to understand the intent of the internet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhTxRssxfuI |
workload for the gd mods was cut by 2/3's when botd was removed from the general areas. we no longer worry about violations. the rules are clear. violators get locked. no more 3rd,4th,5th chances with promises to behave. staff and mods are fed up with dealing with the headaches they cause. BOTD was removed from the general areas primarily becuase the owner of the website was allowed to work on it from his job. he could not risk popping into gd to check a problem and having nekid pics all over his work pc. Staff also decided to attempt to cleanup the forums a bit around the same timeframe. there are TONS of free porn sites with better pics than you will EVER find here. i suggest looking for them elsewhere. |
It isn't always about porn. A year ago I posted a pic of a burn my wife got on her chest. 9mm Glock tossed a hot casing down her shirt. No true cleavage was shown, but an area right above it. I only posted it because a) it was funny, b) it was educational. The thread was moved to Team because it violated the rules. I didn't complain then, and I'm not complaing now. I'm simply pointing out that violations don't always have anything to do with porn. |
No need to look for them, I have them in my favorites already! ![]() Thanks for the other info, I wasn't trying to start an argument, I was truly curious. |
