 Rant ON After I get off work at 6 today, my roommates wanted to go to the drive-in about 25 miles away and watch a double feature... Some of you local guys may have heard of it, Jessup Drive-In in Jessup, GA. So we go down, get there about 8 or so cuz we stopped and ate. Movie starts at 9:15, after it was supposed to start at 8:45... No problem, baby's fussy, feed the baby before the movie and get her to sleep. Let me set the rest of the scene, we are in a mid-size SUV so we are nice enough to go to the back row, so we could open our hatch and sit in the back. Now this is a dual-screen theatre, so they are playing a different movie behind us. My roommates are engaged to one another, so I let them cuddle in one part of the SUV, and i sat in the very back sprawled across the opening. Anywho, after about 5 minutes of the movie, an employee comes by, sir you need to either pull down your hatch or close it, you're blocking the view of the people behind you... "Sir we're parked in the back row, why are they watching this movie from the other movie's section?" To which he replies, you can close your hatch or you can leave... So I kindly request the manager, "if you want to speak to him, he's up front." Fine... I get pissed off, and I walk up to the managers booth. "Sir, we came in and parked in the back row so we could watch the movie w/ out having problems. Our hatch will not come down halfway, it's hydraulic." Well he not so politely informed me that we could close the hatch or leave... "Can we get a refund?" "No you can't, the movie already started..." Ok, keep in mind we're less that 10 minutes into the movie at this point... So he then tells me he'll be back shortly to see what the problem is... Comes back, says we'll have to close the hatch, move, or leave... I not so kindly answer that we parked in the BACK for just such reason. He said they over sold the movie, and they had to flow into the other theatre's parking area. NOT MY PROBLEM YOU SORRY SACK OF SHIT... Word were exchanged, vulgar language was delivered by myself and my roommate who is a Spec4 in the army, old guy decides to be billy badass and gets in my buddy's face, blah blah blah, we decide it was best for us to leave before we caused problems... So that is my rant for this evening. Thank you for tuning into the firefighter1213 rant this evening... Holy shit I was pissed... mike |
It is just a Specialist, I just like sayin spec4, used to abbreviating names... And couldn't really draw down, the theatre was packed full of army wives (deployment last week of 95% of the guys here) and they all had a million kids each. Didn't need to cause a scene for the kiddies .As for the speakers, they had taken them all down a few years ago apparently, and went to FM broadcast so the viewers could listen in their cars with the windows up or whatever. My buddy said he might be able to talk to the General and have the place put on a do not go list so all the wives won't spend their money there. Next to 2 military bases, that place would be seriously hurtin if he did that. Interesting concept though.. |

Adapt, Improvise, Overcome. I probably would have just used my belt or a bungee or a tiedown ratchet strap and cinched the tailgate down even with the roofline, but I carry those things in my '89 Blazer, and you may not. I can't say as I blame you, however for being pissed at the peon for his "my way or the highway" attitude or the manager for the same thing. I have a problem with unyielding people like that. On a side note, wifey, our two boys and I caught Shrek 3 at the Wilderness Drive-In in Trenton, GA on Friday night. No incidents, though.

Their place, their rules. Close it or GTFO. Notice they tried to compromise a bit and just get it down below roof level. But you weren't having it, couldn't use a couple of belts, shoe laces, jumper cables, or anything to lower it acceptably. The real problem here was not the rear hatch (a stupid thing to have on an SUV, BTW), but your attitudes. Your only smart move was leaving before the cops arrived. Might have saved your hothead buddy from CO ass-reaming. PRK out. |

1. We tried to use reason, we were IN THE BACK ROW in case you missed that part, the complaining vehicle was in the opposite theatres parking. As I walked to the managers booth, I noticed MULTIPLE spots vacant in our drive-in parking. 2. I had just worked 10 hours outside pushing motorcycles in the hot ass sun and getting kicked in the head, and I was trying to wind down from work, so I WAS already stressed enough for the day... 3. I am not taking my belt off just to be CONVENIENT to someone who is stupid enough to park in the wrong spot to begin with. We had our hatch open and ready to view the movie BEFORE the dumb bitch ever parked in the first place. 4. Our attitudes were the problem??? The dumb sumbitch would hear nothing of the lady moving down 2 parking spots to a visually acceptable parking area. We were there long before she arrived, we parked in the BACK ROW for everyone else's convenience, and you say it's OUR attitudes?? 5. I was hoping the cops would've showed up. At least then I would've gotten a refund or gone to jail, and if I was going to jail, the mother fucker would be needing an ambulance. 6. My "Hot-Headed" buddy kept his cool until the old geezer that worked there decided to throw the story in about how he had 30 years of teaching experience and about how his dad was in WW2 and then got in my buddy's face. It would not have been difficult to ask her to move down 2 spots, afterall, we were in the correct area, we were there first, AND 90% of the SUV's had their hatches open. They never tried to compromise, it was close it or leave, no compromising... As for why I mentioned him being a specialist, he was trying to explain to the owner that he just wanted to enjoy a night out with his family and that he didn't know if/when he would be deployed. I was trying to set the scene for you guys...
