02:30 Wichita Kansas. I am in the living room watching TV . My girlfriend is awoken by a strange noise. I grab My Sig 229 and spring into action. While clearing the master bedroom, I notice movement in the corner of the room. Something is moving... I ready my trusty pistol and take aim.........at the most horrible creatrue I have ever seen.

Background on the story.... 2 days ago I was working in the garage all day and had the door open into the laundry room. Well I came in and took a nap on the couch, and had left the door open. This little guy must have come inside for a visit and was looking for something to eat in my bedroom trashcan. He is free now. Looking for someplace else to live.

those bastiges are scary little freaks when they're mad!

At least he had contained himself in a handy container for you to
a. throw into woodchipper
b. throw into oven/campfire/nuclear ractor
c. run over with steamroller
d. use as target practice with .50 or larger rifle

wait, what?  you let it go?!!?

Should've caught him in a net/towell/sheet, gave it a couple twists, and thrown him like a fox-tail.

I'm really glad you didn't kill it. It's just a baby.

I found one like that once in my garage, she was bearing her teeth at me and threatning to bite, but I just picked her right up in my hands and it settled down. I kept it as a pet for about a week, and during that time it became very docile and "pet like."

It did get out of its cage a couple times to roam around my room sniffing for anything to eat, but I would always find it in the morning, sleeping in my shoe or inside a baseball cap. It was actually really cute.

Then one night I noticed a female opposum running across my fence, and decided to let the little girl go free, so I wen't in the house and got her, put her up on the fence and she wattled her way over to the momma opposum, climbed up on her back and off they both wen't. Never saw them again.

I felt like I did the right thing at the time, but thinking back on it, I would have rather kept her as a pet. Poor opposums get bashed to death by people for no good reason, or killed by dogs. I'm sure my little one met the same fate by now.

Especially when you train them at a very young age that "humans are friendly"

Now we know why they are always so easily killed.
