[ARCHIVED THREAD] - FFL transfer question

I have never done a FFL transfer and have a question. If I buy a NIB gun and have it shipped to a FFL gunshop, would the shop open up the shipping box or do I get unopened box when I pick it up?

They have to open it in order to record serial number etc.

They'll open it to get the serial number off. Besides, the box/package it comes in will be addressed to the FFL holder, so they can open it regardless.

That's right. The FFL holder has to take the serial number directly off the firearm, not the paperwork accompanying it.
