Some clown on Rush Limbaughs show just claimed that companies in WWII were prohibited from making a profit on ordnance and equipment manufactured for the war.

I'm finding it REALLY hard to believe that.

When the host (not Limbaugh) asked him where he learned that, the guy really hemmed and hawed and after about 30 seconds of incomprehensible gibberish, stammered "in school."

Soo......

I remember stories about my Grandmother who worked in a factory that was converted to making war stuff. She got a raise and was not allowed to tell anyone what she made.

I'm sure profits were made.

I actually thought it was "capped" not a zero profit allowed rule.

Like mrclean said, I would almost guarantee companies figured a way to profit.

During WWII a lot of contracts were let by the government on a cost plus basis.  The amount of profit was a percent of the cost.  The National Guard training site that I work at was built this way.

Yes, there were profits, but they were clearly defined in the contracts.
