copywrited(purchased) files can only be played on computer it was downloaded on.

if you got the files elsewhere, for free you should be able to copy them to another device yes

If you mean the web site,NOT TRUE.You can take it from your computer to your iPod, and a cd or an mp3 cd.From the mp3 cd or the cd you can transfer it to another music program and put it on your "Not iPod".
If you mean iTunes on your computer and not the web site and you OWN the cd you can do what EVER you want as long as it is for PESONAL use.Meaning ,dont burn a copy of that cd that you OWN and give it to your buddy.

Here is another iPod question.  I put 7 CD's into a playlist.  Great.  I now have a playlist in my iPod of those 7 CD's.  I now want to shuffle WITHIN that playlist.  I don't want to shuffle in all 5 gig's of my music right now.  Just those 7 CD's

How?

I think napster does wht you are saying..   but your not really "buying" the music.. just the rights to listen to it..

they do have outright MP3s you can buy but those are diffrent then thier regular plan ..

is that what your doing ?
