Sounds like you might have spent some time in Nam. Uncle Sugar gave me a M-16 in '69 after taking away my beloved M-14.

My orders were changed to Germany after the russkies invaded Czechoslovakia . I guess I was lucky.

Dig around on this site. There is a wealth of information here. And the folks here are great. Although things get a little rough in the GD sometimes.

Yeah, spent a little time there - I was done about the same way, went thru Boot & ITR with a '14 (USMC) Never saw a '16 till I hit Staging Battlion just before we took our little flight to the wonderous & wonderfull land of the little folk SEMPER FI
