I understand glucosamine helps with aching joints such as my knees.  I'd like to start taking some and see if it helps.

What is a good brand to try?

Any brands to avoid?

Thanks.

According to my retired Pharmacology Prof. grandfather who takes the stuff daily, avoid the stuff with Chondritin as it tends to be poorly refined in China from pig knuckles of all things.   He personally prefers the cheap Walmart brands.

I get the above stuff, Cosamin DS, from Sam's Club. It's expensive but last Spring when my knees were aching like crazy, this stuff helped immeasurably... My mother in law takes it as well and it helps her too.

Highly recommended IMHO.

Edit: I tried the regular Chondroitin stuff and it did nothing. Only thing that worked (for me) was the above Cosamin.

My understanding of the vitamin industry is that pretty much all of it is formulated/manufactured by one or two companies.

Buying it online is the best solution I have found, because retail has ridiculous margins.
