I already have a Toughbook that goes everywhere with me and I'd rather get a GPS antenna for it than buy a TomTom or Magellan stand-alone unit. Has anyone here had any experience with GPS software/antenna combos? Can you recommend one? Stay away from? Thanks! |
Delorme Street Atlas USA 2007/08, if you go to DeLorme's website, they have a package deal that has the software and a tiny little GPS receiver that I bought about 6 months ago. I love that lil mofo. It goes on your dash up next to your windshield, or i put it on the bottom of my sunroof. It's never let me get lost, and I just moved to another state, so that's a plus ![]() ETA: the entire DeLorme package including GPS was 99$!! Can't beat it ETA AGAIN: the link Delorme GPS/Software |

DeLorme has some good packages wired and Bluetooth. I like the mapping software and my Earthmate GPS unit works well. shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=10092 |
Streets & Trips is not bad software it works and matter of fact it looks better than Street Atlas, but Street Atlas is more mature development wise and has better features. I have both I use Street Atlas far more. In truth both will do the job. |
Delorme just rocks..they now offer the PN20 hand held which uses Topo 6.0 for mapping...can also use the unit as the antenna for a laptop or tablet PC. Heres my nav setup in my Discovery ![]()

Oh now that is one cool setup. I was thinking of getting a new GPS (to replace my old monochrojme Garmin III) and was looking for one with a big screen, but never thought about using a tablet PC. Out of curiosity, what's ballpark price for that setup? |
That is just one nice outfit...

I use Microsoft Streetes and Trip 2007, though I will not buy(pay for) it. Uncle Bill screwed me over one too many times. I cannot stand the DeLorme interface. Disregardless of which one you pick, I HIGHLY recommend getting the bluetooth adapter/version. Wireless is the way to go. ByteTheBullet (-: |
| I Use Streets and Trips 2007 and Delorme Street Atlas Plus 2007 with a Holux GR-213 USB GPS receiver. I switched out from the older Delorme receiver because it isn't SiRF star III. Very happy with both. One of them has a night mode kinda like a 1980's green graphics to reduce eye strain during night navigation. |
The night vision type is Delorme...never used it myself |
Streets has night mode too. Found it yesterday. ByteTheBullet (-: |
How do I access it? |
In Delorme apps... Options tab>Display>Map colors>High contrast colors>apply |
Sorry, I was inquiring about Streets. |
Thanks. You know, running a Help search on "night" turned up nothing. I appreciate it. |
