hey yenz, just joined the site and wanted to stop in and say Hi and let you know a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in western Pennsylvania (Go Steelers), i still rside there with my wife and 3 month old son. i've been into hunting, the outdoors, and firearms ever since i was able to walk. i started working in firearms retail when i turned 18 and have been doing that either part time or full time for the past 8 years. at one point i was working a regular full time job and was sent to the middle east for 3 months in 2005 to do survey work on oil rigs in the Gulf Of Suez. (i wish i could have carried at least a sidearm). upon my return home i made my mind up to enlist in the armed forces. One of my hunting buddies was a Recruiter for the PA Army National Guard and he talked me into joining the Guard. On Dec 11th 2006 i signed my contract and took the Oath. i was Scheduled to leave for Basic Combat Training on March 2nd 2007. i also had to attend the monthly weekend drills with a Recruit Sustainment Detacchment in Mt. Pleasant, PA. One thing the PA National Guard does is a one week Pre-Initial Entry training the week before you ship to Basic. long story short my career in the Military ended as quickly as it started the day before i shipped to basic when i rolled my knee during morning PT. i felt like my life ended that day when i was Disqualified from going into the military. that was 3 almost weeks ago and i'm still having trouble walking or putting weight on my left leg. Now i'm looking for some way to Support the Troops more than i have in the past. in my time off i have started some new projects, i added on some upgrades to my Bushmaster 16" XM-15A2, like a new 4 position stock, handguards with with a vertical grip, and Surefire Light. i have also in the past built some custom bolt action rifles for long range hunting/shooting in various calibers, now i'm gonna make a couple for some well deserving Guardsmen that i had a chance to meet. i'll stop rambling now. hope to learn from this site as well as from the members thanks Chris Smith |
Welcome aboard!
