| Anyone use Turbotax, etc? I've never used one of these type programs, but I'm looking to make my life a little easier this year. Is there one program that seems to stand out from the others? |

I go for the free E-file stuff. You can check out the American Extortion Services' web site. I mean IRS.gov to find out who offers free E-file. Personally, I used Liberty tax's free service this year. Laster year it was 1040 something, year before that was TurboTax. |

I've used Turbo Tax since Chipsoft brought it out years ago. Never had a problem with it but I've never used another program, so I can't say if it's the "best." I do my taxes and my two childrens'. I really like the feature that transfers your fed info into the state module (you get one state included, can buy any others needed). This saves a lot of time re-entering data- addresses, SSANs, etc. You can also download financial data W-2s, 1099s, etc from some employers, brokers, etc. |

PM Me with your address and mail them to me. I've prepped taxes for 6 years and do about 100 returns per year in my free time as a "side job" . I'll ship everything back to ya ready to go for $75 bucks. There is also a credit that I think a lot of the tax programs aren't picking up. It's the excise tax on long distance. Standard credit is $40, or if you gather up all your bills you can use the tax off of that. |

I've used H&R Block's TaxCut software for the past two years. No problems that could be attributed to the software. It comes in the mail, free of charge. IIRC, they only charge you if you want to electronically send it (a reasonable fee), or if you want to do your state taxes also. Since Texas has no state taxes, my family is golden. ETA> TaxCut does include the long distance excise tax refund. |
| I've used TaxACT for the past couple of years and have been very happy. |

I like TurboTax. Been using it for a short while; my dad has been using it for years and he likes it. If you have an account with Vanguard or any other popular brokerage house (Schwab, Fidelity, etc.) it is quite likely that you get a discount off of the regular Turbo Tax online filing. I am a Vanguard customer and I get something like 20% off the list price. Link to Vanguard's discounts off Turbo Tax |
