I see Aim has Sig P225 9mms for sale now. 1. Are the mags single stack because the capacity is only 8 rounds (How much dat one hold?)? 2. Are they small enough to be a good CCW candidate? |

The SIG P225 and the 1911 are the two pistols that fit my hands PERFECTLY. I don't own a P225 but did put thousands of rounds through them during a training class. They just fit right, feel right, and function right. The mag is an 8 round single stack. The pistol is about a 3/4 scale P220, and I could CCW it easily. Gander Mtn has had them on sale for 399 recently. From what I have seen these are a mix of American and Euro style mag release pistols. They are out of production as far as the US market is concerned. If you like the feel of the P239 that is the replacement for the P225, it is supposed to be stronger (can be had in 40SW unlike the P225) and I think it is a bit slimmer. Anyways it is a great handling and accurate handgun, and if it fits your hands and you can find a few spare magazines you won't regret buying it. That's a good price. Make sure it has the American mag release. |
QUIB, that is a beautiful photo! The BGS beret is a nice touch. ![]() I use my service issue P6 (which is almost identical to the 225) also for off duty concealed carry, very comfortable. |
And actually you will find them to be SIG P6 handguns so they have a bit of uniqueness. They are the German police handgun that came after the Walther P5 and before the HK P7. |
The Gander Mtns here have the P6's (225) in stock, and yes, they are German Police trade ins. They even have the modified hammer spurs. |
Danke. The beret was a gift from my nephew who is a police officer with the BGS. |
I went down to AIM and picked up one of those for the boyfriend a couple weeks ago. When we got home with it I got out my P239 and compared them. The 225 is just a bit longer in the slide, and a bit wider, but they're pretty similar overall. Very good price IMO, given what I paid for my P239 new. |

All of the "classic" SIG are outstanding, but the P225 was never my favorite. It's basically a single-stack P228 that was designed for the German Polezei and not adopted by anybody I can think of. It's still a great weapon, but the P228 is one of the best things out there and not that much thicker. |
