Ok, Night of the Living Dead gave me nightmares for weeks when I was a child. I still to this day find the whole zombie genre a little freaky(but I cant stop watching the movies once I start). the movies do creep me out but I still enjoy them. However they leave me with questions that I think need answers. Alrighty then, zombies are reanimated corpses. In the event of a zombie hord I would move up near the artic circle and hope for cold. I would think the zombies would freeze. Why dont the zombies bite and dismember eachother? Can you walk around pretending your a zombie and get away with it? And finally If you wait it out long enough the zombies should rot to the point of not being a threat( maybe an ankle biting threat). I would think if you had enough supplies for a year you would be ok.

Being a bit of Unofficial Zombie Expert i will answer your questions here

1. Zombies can freeze. It has been covered in several comic books and novels.
2. Zombie flesh is infected with the radiation/infection/disease etc so it isnt palatable to one another.
3.Depending on the source you can get away with walking around acting as one. (Shaun of the Dead)
4. I believe the esteemed zombie historian Max Brooks states that a zombies lifetime is generally based on the enviroment and the infection keeping the flesh a bit more "elastic" that your average dead person.
Any more?

Zombies will freeze as they are cold blooded.  However its likely they will spring back to undeadness in the spring, thus you will have to be warey.

In most of the training films, other than the innacurate piss poor C and D grade films, zombies are only converted from the living.  Skeletons will not rise out of the ground.  There is some debate as to if it requires flesh still be sort of intact on the corpse for it to reanimate.

You generally can't pretend to be a zombie.  Slight still works for most zombies, so its natural to assume their other senses would work unless they are damaged.  Its likely smell coupled with sight that would give away those pretending to be zombies.  Perhaps they can sense your body heat?  Many animals can also "smell fear" so this could be a factor.

I disagree that zombies can live in very extreme environments.  Brooks has zombies living at the bottom of the ocean.  I can't agree with the fact that the laws of physics are thrown out for zombies.  At such depths the pressure would pulverize any body, even a zombified one.  However in shallow waters, zombies could certainly lurk on the sea/river bed.

Probably the best Finnish zombie movie so far., 4 October 2005

Author: jpkwolf from Finland

A Finnish home made zombie movie. Nuclear war caused a nuclear winter and the radiation started unexpectedly turning people into zombies. Few survivors that are immune to radiation fight against the zombies. Honestly not badly made short movie. It even made me jump at one point. But to make it really good they should have made it less serious. As a horror comedy it could have been good. Now the plot isn't really original excluding the idea of a zombie movie at winter in Finland. The movie is very typical borrowing from Hollywood zombie and action movies. Instead of just shooting at zombies they should have went for Peter Jackson style insane action. That said the movie is fairly well made and better than most home made zombie flicks I've seen. I also wasn't bored watching it and the acting of the guys wasn't that bad.

There was something similar to this in Day by Day Armageddon.....the part where they're at the Marina. The person telling the story repeats how the zombies stumble around at the water's edge but never try to "swim." I believe there was one part where a floating zombie corpse was found right near the dock of the Marina and it grabbed someone before being shot (or sinking to it's second death). I don't remember it in full detail.

Back to the OP; zombies eat "living" human flesh. Therefore, they're not attracted to their "dead" counterparts.

Brooks wrote that the M1 Carbine is the "ultimate survival rifle" and how shitty the AR15 was. He also made Cuba into a superpower in his new novel.

Fuck Brooks.

Want advice?
1.) Don't let zombies bite you.
2.) If they do bite you, the only cure is 85-400grs of copper and lead. Shots through the forehead are recommended for complete recovery.
3.) Don't listen to Max Brooks.

Don't count on cold either, 2 weeks ago it was -40 up here, today it was +8

it woudl suck to get complacent and then ahve a warm spell hit you and get yourself munched on.

My major concern would be if wildlife could become infected, or if Zombies were in or near the water if it could become infected from rotting pieces falling in (lose drinking water you will become a shambler soon yourself...   or drink tainted water and turn...)

I dont think zombies will really occur the way the original zombie flicks showed it.

Your muscles dont work without breathing.

If your a rotting corpse with no blood flow, your not moving.

the 28 days style "rage" infection was more realistic imo, effects the brain to make the people infected go crazy bad ass mad.

I hated the movie, but the IDEA of an infection such as that was more realistic, than something weird like a zombie that doesnt breathe, has brain function, can walk / sorta run....

meh

"...And that's how XDBACKUPGUN lasted exactly 4 hours into the zombie apocalypse."

Shit, man, I even have a plan for alien invasion. Unfortunately, I think it relies too much on Sigourney Weaver, however.
