I was sitting here sick and decided I wanted some soup, didn't have any so i went to the store and got a cup o noodles cause it seemed easier to make than regular soup. That got me thinking, I;d probably save a load of money if i ate this stuff instead of take out/ sandwiches. So, How many arfcommers eat Ramen or Cup O Noodles on a regular basis to have more ammo/ gun money? |

Man I lived on Ramen in college. I had $9 for the month after paying rent. Lots of piels light, ramen and food donations from my mother's house when i went home once a month. and I had ramen today and 3 days ago, but probably no more than 20x a year. ps also makes an excellent side dish as a noodle or a whole meal with any leftover meat thrown in the noodles for the last minute of the 3 minute boil, and/or toss in some broccoli or peas. live cheap and prosper! |
Hohoho... about a decade ago, when I was single, and had just acquired my C&R FFL, and was working an IT job making good money, I went on a large acquistion binge of firearms (resulting in 220 rifles in my collection at its high point, with very few duplicates) TO make my money go a far as possible at gunshows, etc.. I ate nuffin' but ramen and hotdogs (sometimes diced in the ramen) for about 18 months (with the occasional supplement of leftovers and baked goods from mum) I also donated blood plasma 3 - 4 times a week (two separate firms, twice a week at $25 a pop.. and yes, I did feel ill doing it that frequently...)... I also scavenged aluminium cans and range brass to take to the recyclers. I had a roommate and minimal expenses... so I was able to buy guns/ammo at an almost unholy rate. |

Not only often, but with creative flair... Ramen with no spice pack, with $.29 can of tomato soup = poor mans Spaghetti Ramen with a diced hotdog and a $.15 can of mixed veggies = poor mans Adobo Ramen with no spice pack and the cheese from $.10 pack of mac N Cheese The macaroni from above and a $.50 can of tuna... The possibilities for a under $1 meal are endless... |
You had me worried there at the sodium content. I looked it up and its still frigging high, but not 2000mg. Its around 1400 according to some diet site I found. I guess maybe I should adapt and do regular noodles and sauce. |
| We have several of those large multi-pack boxes in the basement for preps. I lived on the stuff in college, but I'll freely admit that it is an acquired taste. But if I'm starving, I'll certainly eat it. Especially during backpacking trips when there is nothing else to chow on. |

Years and years ago, I bought a surplus Goretex parka, and in one of the pockets, was a reciept from a PX in Korea. On the reciept was 2 things, Ramen noodles and koolaid. I hope the troop bought these just because he liked them, and not because that was all he could afford |
this reminds me of a story. i bought ramen at a bilo. i bought 3 "cases" of chili ramen. 72 packs IIRC. the cashier just looked at me. looked pissed. it was because she had to ring up each pack. the computer doesnt let them just enter automatic multiples. so she had to run the same pack over the scanner 72 times. |
