So I just opened up my 2 D cell mag lite and one of the batteries leaked some acid. Is there any way to clean it out, or is the body trash?

I'd try baking soda and water, mix into a paste, put some on a rag and run it inside the body with a screwdriver or something.  Follow up with a wet towel to scrub the residue out.

What brand are the batteries?  If they are a brand that Maglite has a contract with, Maglite with replace the flashlight for free. I'll dig up the email that says which brands they have a contract with if you want.

eta:

Thank you for your interest in Maglite products.  First, by the serial number
that you gave me, it tells me you have a 6D cell Maglite.  The first number is
always the size of light you have.  Now, normally when the tailcap is not
removeable, it normally indicates that your batteries have leaked and sealed
themselves inside.  We carry a contract with Duracell, Eveready and Ray-o-vac,
if it is one of these inside the Maglite, we will repair or replace the
complete
unit to you at no charge.  Please send it UPS or Postal Insured to: Mag
Instrument, Inc., Attn; Warranty Dept., 1721 E. Locust St., Ontario, Ca.
91761-7769.  Include a letter with your name, address, phone number and
description of problem.  If the batteries are not one of these brands, then
there would be a charge of 12.00 for a C or D cell Maglite.   8.00 for a
Mini-Maglite replacement, but if it is one of the 3-batteries mentioned, then
please send it to us with a letter and we will take care of it for you.  (the
Rechargeable Maglite does not fall into this replacement offer).

Cool I guess I will send them an email. The batteries were Duracells that were supposed to be good until 2011.
