I am trying to finally get a decent nights' sleep and these damn pilots in their F18s keep flying at what seems like 15 fuckin feet over my barracks.  Then they go and do their touch n gos and of course i hear every time when they go to AB, I hate being in the air wing.  And every time they go by it sets car alarms off for like 10 minutes.  I hate night ops and Beaufort.  Rant over.  I really hate sirs sometimes

Don't you hate it when someone parks an air base next to your barracks?  Sounds like you're in the USAF....Better get used to it.  Once you start loosing
your hearing from all of the full afterburner takeoffs you won't notice them so much

I would guess he is a Marine from his screen name and the fack he says barracks instead of dorm.  Also the F18 is a Marine aircraft.

I feel your pain.  I lived in a room 100 yards from a military runway once.  It was waivered so we could live that close.

ETA:  I am not saying none of you have experienced it but have any of you lived practically on a jet runway for a year or more.  The loud bass music cars sound like a pin dropping in comparison.

Hmmm, Beufort... Airwing... sounds like a Marine to me.

That's what you get for being in the "wing".  Then again you could be in combat arms, laying outside in the pouring rain, getting eaten by mosquitos.  Your choice.

You what I used to hate?

Ft. Lee.

They had AIT soldiers there still in their 4am loud ass cadence mode. The drill sergeant would say "You better wake those MPs up, or we'll keep going around."

That shit was annoying.

I was joking. Don't take it seriously, as an American you have the absolute right to complain and not doing so and not expressing your opinion would be less American. Just don't go telling that to your CO.

Deal with it.  Plenty of carrier crews figure out how to.

You will miss it when its gone.  I was stationed at MCAS Tustin  for 4 years and miss the sounds of CH-53E and CH-46 putting me to sleep

I did deal with....and I honestly admit it is loud as hell.  I am letting the guy know others feel the same way he does.

Wait til you deploy...

Then you'll have aircraft outgoing and incoming, artillery outgoing and incoming, warning sirens and all sorts of fun!

I love the helo/skids, but some other things get on my nerves, but oh well, Iraq was worse, gotta love 24hr flight ops.  And I have been on a carrier, and yes, it sucked, but I did make nice $$, So it was dealwithable

Or wait until you get a job on the flightline and you are going around checking your checklist and the crewchief starts up the aircraft to function check it while you're under it because he didn't look or yell to stand clear.    Happened several times so thank God I wasn't near the intake.

Well, I have been on the flightline for about 3 years and thankfully I am ordnance and have not ever had anyone turn one up when I was under or around the intakes.  It has stopped!! night yall

Army barracks about 300 yards from an Army Airfield.  36+ Apaches  a shitload of scouts and some Blackhawks.  I loved it.  Rocked me to sleep almost every night.  Ahhhh the sound of freedom...

I don't remember being unable to sleep on the 02 level just feet beneath night launches.  They HAD to use AB's, too.  This was while we were doing more launches than anyone.

Harden up!!  Or see if you can request mast about this burning issue.    If that doesn't work buy a dress and see if they'll let you transfer to YMCA.  But beware, they allow kids in the pool and the bouncing basketballs make a terrible racket.
