If shipping is based on size/weight, what do you expect them to do?

You edited. Yeah, that sucks.

According to IMSPLUS.com it says the .50cal can weighs 5lbs, empty. I had no idea it weighed that much.

Ammo cans should be bought at gun shows--not shipped.  I had no idea it would be that bad though.

Edit:  I guess they could charge you fifty bucks for the can--that way the shipping won't seem so unreasonable.

I wouldn't order them if the local surplus had good ones in stock. They're damn near 75% rusted and on some of them the lids won't even open.

IMS-PLUS has them for $7 a piece. I wonder how good the quality is (even though it's used).

If only we had E-Bay back when I was swimming in ammo cans----I'd be rich.

Seriously, get the 40mm cans---they are much better.

I went tru Cheaperthandirt.com just to check it out. Their 50cal ammo cans are $7.97, shipping FedEx ground shipping is $13.04. $21.01 for a ammo can, dang bend over and spread em. I'd re-consider your local surplus store, go tru his entire stock to find an acceptable can if you have too.

it costs more for shipping than the value of the ammo can, just go to your local flea market, and you can buy them for $2.00 each

The page wouldn't load. I'll check again.

eta: They have them for $5 a piece and it says "Grade A - This grade of cans has very little or no rust. The seal is intact." The pic they show looks decent....just a few scrape marks.

ETA #2: Nevermind, with shipping it's $21.07.

The shipping is probably 8-10 dollars and you got hit with a minimum order fee.  Order more ammo cans, the shipping will only increase in small increments.
