 Gaetano Giulio Zumbo 1656-1701 ..................... The famous Sicilian wax modeler moved to Florence in 1691. When Zumbo left for Bologna three years later, the Grand Duke Cosimo III de' Medici is reputed to have told him: "You may find a greater patron than I, but none that will know your worth as I do". Zumbo moved from Bologna to Genoa, where he contributed to the development of the medical sciences by carrying out research on the reproduction of anatomical wax models. Zumbo eventually moved to the Court of Louis XIV, where he acquired great fame. |
