And then joins NRA and announces support for an AWB. Does ANYONE need ANY MORE proof of what disingenuous, lying twatwaffles almost all politicians are? The goal is simple: Say and do ANYTHING to get elected, counting on the stupidity and gnat-like attention spans of the sheeple to only remember the sound-bites they last heard.

John McCain took money from AGS (Americans for Gun Safety) as well as doing commercials for them. He flipped when he lost the primaries in 2000. He is not our friend. I can't say that enough. Careful, you're starting to sound like the libertarian party and their incessant cry of "the media is mean to us!"  The Republicans screwed themselves over, there are maybe 5-6 left that are worth a damn. Newt is the same asswipe that gave us "compassionate conservativism." Which to me sounds a lot like "being a democrat." In fact, its gotten so bad that libertarians who would vote Republican during a close race can't bring themselves to do it anymore (myself included.) My advice, for what little its worth. Is for the repubs to rediscover what it means to be conservative. Not this neo-con crap, not this social programs for Jesus that Brownback wants to ram down our throats. Just some good, old-fashioned, small government, leave people alone, conservativism. Need an example? Start here.

We've taught them a lesson alright. What we've taught them is that as long as they stay to the right of the Democrat candidate we'll vote for them no matter how bad they are. Oh yes, they've got that one memorized. With Hillary as the Democrate candidate, they Republicans can move far to the left and still expect us to vote for the their candidate. We need to teach them a new lesson, and that is that the lesser of two evils is no longer an acceptable way to choose candidates. Until we drive that lesson home we're going to continue to get these RINO's foisted on us. Yes, we may have to endure a Democrat majority for a while, but we'll never get true conservatives in office as long as we vote for any R who's to the right, even only slightly so, than the D who's running. I say the time to start is NOW. And to show my money is where my mouth is, I've already informed the RNC and the Arizona Republican Party chairman, that I won't vote for ANY candidate who doesn't have at least a B rating by the NRA and GOA. |

He takes money from an anti-gun group, do you think he will stop that if he becomes president? Do you think that this group will stop wanting him to take their money and lose their influence with the president of the USA? He can't be trusted, don't be fooled. |

Won't vote for "mitt the ditt", I don't vote on what they say, I vote on what they have done. The repugnican party is done unless it goes back to it's roots of conservatism. The best way to do it is to defund them and tell them why you won't donate to any part of their party. Money is power in politics, and thats all they really care about. |
BULLSHIT If Newt gets to speak to the people ON THE ISSUES directly rather than through the media filter, he will catch fire. The whole reason the dems. went after him with such a vengeance was because in an honest debate on the issues he is UNBEATABLE. I defy anyone who is intellectually honest to actually listen to his reasonings on issues which he ALWAYS backs up with historic context to come to a wildly different conclusion. Bottom line is this. The dems. HAD to silence Newt because they FEARED that the sheeple might hear him speak on issues and think WOW, this guy not only knows his shit, he backs it up with PRAGMATIC arguments and solutions. Needless to say, they launched a massive smear campaign on him and their allies in the mainstream media were only too willing to help since he can repudiate their printed propaganda with ACTUAL HISTORIC FACTS which they also FEAR. I also don't want to hear about his love life or other so-called personal failings. The perfect candidate does not exist and this nation needs a LEADER. Among the current crop of candidates he stands head and shoulders above the rest. But what do I know, I'm just a poor, dumb hillbilly. |
Being moderate is why McCain is a "major" candidate. "Reasonable gun control" is a slightly conservative position when compared to some of the Democrats. The media assumes any very pro-RKBA candidate is just one of those crazies that won't get more than a dozen votes and ignores them. |
Which is fine, we've all got boundaries we aren't willing to cross come vote time. But, come 08 we're going to have to pay the piper for our nitpicking. If the choice comes down to between Shrillary and Romney or Obama and Giuliani then it's: heads - tougher, stupider AWB gets pushed through, or tails - stupider, tougher AWB gets pushed through. I guess the million dollar question being - what's more important to you, domestic or foreign policy? ED: All I'm trying to say is, given the piss-poor ratings of Bush, we are NOT going to get everything we want from a candidate in '08. |

That's why I said speak directly to the people. As in debates on the ISSUES. If he can getr into the debates, the voters can see and hear him for themselves which scares the hell out of the dems. Once people hear reasoned, rational, fact based discussion of the current issues, I think the msm attacks might start falling on deaf ears. Reagan confounded them on a regular basis and Newt can do it too. |
But he's devotedly pro-gun. Lighten up, man. Besides, the schmucks at DU think Goldwater was the name of that wrestler.  And they certainly wouldn't go for the man who said he'd rather "kill a hell of a lot of North Vietnamese than one American."
