Quoted: --DIDNT MEAN TOO MAKE YOU ALL BUTT HERT M4 A) In this context it's "to", not "too". B) The correct spelling is "hurt", not "hert". C) "DIDNT MEAN TOO MAKE YOU ALL BUTT HERT M4" ...what the f@ck does that mean exactly? D) Disregard item "C".....I don't really care. |

shovelhead69, To the far left of your keyboard si a button labeled "Caps Lock". If you press this button once then all your post will not come across as yelling. BTW, yes the AK and FAL is a good battle rifle. So is the M1A, SKS, Enfield, Ruger 10/22, Marlin .22, Savage 110, M1 Carbine, AK74, K98, any Mauser, Mosin Nagant M44, Browning BAR, 700PSS, Winchester '94,Mossburg shotgun Springfield '03, Barrett light .50, AR10, FN-49, Remington Slug gun,...and of course The Brown Bess musket rifle. If you really want to be prepared you should buy one of each of these, that way in every situation you will be prepared. Or you can just take the one you shoot best. sgtar15 PS Now if you want to talk about which pistol to get..... |

Basically it depends on a whole lot of factors, including what you're comfortable with. These are tools .. for a lot of things .223 is great, just like other calibers. For some things it's not so great. Yes it's a good fighting caliber. Some of the things that come to mind are 'material penetration', 'poor or accurate follow shots', 'armor penetration', 'range', etc. You tell us what charateristics specifically you want, and we'll try and suggest something if you want. Otherwise, yes .223 is a good 'FIGHTING CALIBER' end of thread ( yeah right haha ). |

I used to do a lot of shooting with an ex- Royal Marine. On his last tour his job was chasing heroin smugglers in Indonesia or Malaysia. He gave me the three secrest of winning a gunfight: 1) Bring a gun 2)Speed is fine, accuracy final 3) The winner is not who shoots first, but who gets the first hit. Get that part right and caliber becomes secondary. BTW, he made a living carrying a FAL and now shoot's AR15's and M16's as first choice. Go figure... |

Quoted: Quoted: The .223 has killed dead plenty around the world. or THE .232 KILED DED PLNTY AROND TEH WOLD. The .308 of the FAL would be a much better choice than the 7.62 x 39 of your AK but then you knew (NEW) that too (TWO) didn't you (U). Bad Bad Man [:P] |

Quoted: I'm taking my single shot 22lr into combat. You wussies can have your .223 and 5.56, I'm man enough to handle a 22 long rifle! Thats 98 times bigger than a .223, and 44 times bigger than a 50 cal! Plus my ammo is $8 for a box of 500... beat that! Ummm, Monel... It's .22LR, thereby making it .003 LESS than .223. [;)] |
