I made the catastrophic mistake of updating to iTunes 7. It sucks and I can't get songs onto my iPod with it. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled version 6 (both using downloads and my original CD that came with my iPod. Now, when I try to use iTunes, I get an error message that says "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes". And that's it. It WON'T WORK. So I searched for iTunes files and deleted them. I uninstalled and re-booted the computer numerous times and the same shit keeps happening. I don't know what to do. For the love of God somebody please help me! I want my old iTunes back. |

Unintall everything again. Manually delete any iTunes folder that you can. Get Regseeker from here, run it, and kill any iTunes related registry keys. Install 6.x again. If this fails, go to the store, and buy a non-apple mp3 player, install, and be happy

And while we're on the subject, can someone please tell me why I even have to use iTunes to begin with? I drag and drop files from other folders into the iPod but it won't recognize them unless they go through iTunes. Is there another way I don't know about? PLEASE HELP!!!! |
Thanks, I'll try. I'm seriously thinking about a non-apple mp3. Would I be able to just drag and drop files into one and be good to go? |

Boomer, I ran the registry thing (I don't know what the FOOK i'm doing) and I found a lot of files that have some sort of "itunes" in them. Is it safe to delete all of them? They say things like HKEY ROOT and things like that. Again, I don't know what the hell any of that means... |
|
Probably - I've never had regseeker fuck up a registry (well, any more than it already was), but there is always a risk. If it says iTunes in it, it's probably safe to delete. I can't think of a Microsoft key that would have iTunes in it. For what it's worth, every time I run it, I just delete everything it finds. |
Probably. The cheap 512 MB one that I have windows just sees as removable storage - it didn't even come with software Check out newegg.com, and read the reviews there. If there's issues wih a player, someone there has found it. |
Yeah, just drag and drop them into iTunes..... |

Dude, thanks. Fuck apple and fuck iPod and iTunes. I'm done with that shit! I did everything you said and the same shit keeps happening. Problem is, I have to get a new one tonight because I can't sleep without listening to it. Hopefully Target or Walmart near my house has something. |

Before you give up on iTunes and the iPod, go to the Ipod Lounge and look through the forums. They can help you. |
