I'm going to be going to Florida for vacation in about a month, and I was wondering if it'd be safe for me to bring my laptop for the trip?

The thing is, we're not staying in a hotel or anything, we're camping about 100yrds from the beach (St. Joseph's Peninsula) and the laptop would pretty much stay in the vehicles the whole time.

I was wondering if this would be safe to do, since the laptop is pretty much just plastic, and the heat in the vehicles can get very hot... I don't want the laptop to melt or anything.

So would the laptop melt or anything if it was in a vehicle for about 6 days in Florida? We're thinking of taking it pretty much for the purpose of watching some movies for the nice 12 hour drive there, downtime, and another nice 12 hour ride back. And, since we're going to be camping on the beach, it won't be out of the vehicles much, because I don't want sand and shit to get in it.

Don't watch movies while driving. Even on long trips.

Meh, Florida..lucky dog.

I take mine in the vehicle everyday, and haven't had any probs. yet in 5 years. Just keep it in the briefcase or bag-out of direct sunlight.

PSA: Do not leave an inkjet printer in a car when the outside temps are 110*, ink will boil out

Sooo as long as I keep the laptop in the case, and under a blanket or something to where it's out of direct sunlight, it should be fine, right?

Sweeeeeeet.

In the TRUNK yes...

Inside the passenger compartment - NO...

Ambient air temp inside a locked car in Florida can get VERY high...

Yep, and it gets a lot hotter here in the summer than it will in Fl in March.

And you do know we expect Covert's "GIRLS GONE NUTZ,  AND I DON'T MEAN CASHEWS!" video Vol. I. Don't come back w/out it

Well, the problem is, we're taking a Jeep and a Suburban... There's no trunk.

Dont leave it in direct sunlight or it will cook.

Its unreal how hot your car gets down here in summer.

If you leave it in the passenger compartment keep it under something white not black and in a case. I do this alot and mine is fine.

If you are really paranoid about it you could buy a $2 space blanket and wrap the bitch up in that or buy a $5 styrofoam cooler (seriously) and leave it in that in the trunk.

Heat isn't the problem; condensation is the problem.  Large temperature swings in a short period of time will cause condensation to form.
