I hear some people say that Global Warming is a direct result of man-made pollution, while others say that the warming cycle is natural and has been occurring for millions of years. So which is it? |
| What's the fucking the difference who or what causes global warming? According scientists in the global warming camp the damage to the climate has already done. All the carbon dioxide that's been pumped into the atmosphere is there to stay & it'll be in the air warming the planet for decades or even centuries to come. Even if the world stopped burning fossil fuel tomorrow it would still be to little to late according to some scientists. |
|
Yeah, my question is who gives a fat rats ass? Everyone is trying to exploit it for their own fucking reasons, such as: The U.N.- This miserable group of lice-infected third world dipshits wants to use global warming to destroy the very economies of the world (namely us) that feed the miserable, skinny, carbunkle covered masses that they call their people. Liberal scientists - This bunch of never-laid star trek convention goers want free gubment research money since their science is so flimsy that no self respecting scientific organization would drop a fucking nickle on it. Tree hugging dirt-munching druid environmentalists- want the same thing that the U.N. does, but for other reasons. This pack of trust-fund revolutionary douche-bags just hate America, hate business, hate any profit-making endevour undertaken by evil capitalists that might actually achieve something instead of living of a monthly stipend from the fruits of other peoples labors like they do. They talk about this shit while sipping lattes at starbucks. ![]() |

It's the new religion, let all heretics and blasphemers be burned at the stake! "Environmentalism as Religion" by Michael Crichton Link Today, one of the most powerful religions in the Western World is environmentalism. Environmentalism seems to be the religion of choice for urban atheists. Why do I say it's a religion? Well, just look at the beliefs. If you look carefully, you see that environmentalism is in fact a perfect 21st century remapping of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and myths. There's an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity with nature, there's a fall from grace into a state of pollution as a result of eating from the tree of knowledge, and as a result of our actions there is a judgment day coming for us all. We are all energy sinners, doomed to die, unless we seek salvation, which is now called sustainability. Sustainability is salvation in the church of the environment. Just as organic food is its communion, that pesticide-free wafer that the right people with the right beliefs, imbibe. Eden, the fall of man, the loss of grace, the coming doomsday---these are deeply held mythic structures. They are profoundly conservative beliefs. They may even be hard-wired in the brain, for all I know. I certainly don't want to talk anybody out of them, as I don't want to talk anybody out of a belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God who rose from the dead. But the reason I don't want to talk anybody out of these beliefs is that I know that I can't talk anybody out of them. These are not facts that can be argued. These are issues of faith. And so it is, sadly, with environmentalism. Increasingly it seems facts aren't necessary, because the tenets of environmentalism are all about belief. It's about whether you are going to be a sinner, or saved. Whether you are going to be one of the people on the side of salvation, or on the side of doom. Whether you are going to be one of us, or one of them. |
|
You never hear about how the suns energy output has increased, coincidently at the same exact time as "global warming" became the "new religon" do you? Course I grew up with the fact that global COOLING was bringing a new ice age and we would soon freeze or starve to death................. 0.4 degrees F temp swings will do that to you ya know . ![]() It's really about POWER and MONEY. It's the new fear to control the masses who are dumb enough to believe it. Hey Jimmy "peanut" Carter, taken off your damn sweater yet? |

Mother nature pockets carbon away from photosynthetic activity...very little becomes oil or coal because these require geologic processes which are typically slow. If you look at the photosynthetic activity on the planet, you would find most activity is in the oceans. In fact most of the oxygen we breathe is due to the oceans, not forests. Oceanographers had a long-standing idea of how the carbohydrates from photosynthesis were utilized by grazers in the water column and were quite set in their ways so the carbon cycling used showed very little carbohydrate reaching the sea floor. This was proven wrong with discovery of "vertical migration". This is when the sea life of the deep arise at night to feed on the photoplankton grazers. This migration was only recently discovered in the late 1990s and its implication on the carbon cycle in most models is in fact, invalid. This is the majority of the "missing carbon". Over half of the human released carbon dioxide ends up missing from the atmosphere because of this error. Want $25 million dollars? Secretly seed the oceans in certain areas with ferrous sulfate and see the photoplankton bloom. Just a few hundred tons would bring carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere down to 290 ppm, triggering a new ice age. Richard Branson of Virgin Corporation fame is willing to pay that $25 million. Only they just offer it as a carrot on a stick, never intending to pay unless you somehow revert the developed countries to the Stone Age. Sorry for the length here. Just ask away if you are confused. |

Well, if you believe the world's leading scientists it's mostly man made. They just had a their big global warming pow-wow in our favorite European country, France, and they seemed very confident in their conclusions. Global warming is one of the few major areas of science where average people disagree with the scientists who are experts in the field. |
Found an article discussing what you were talking about. Edit: link wont work if you are not a subscriber Side note: Keith you arnt still going around thinking that the term gas and vapor can be used interchangeably are you??? Every time I think of that I
|
Copy and paste? Or is that too "vaporish"? I notice that with websites that wish to "protect" their "data". As if they are afraid of public review. How MicroSoftish. Open Source, buddy. Stand on innovation, not subterfuge. |
It wont let me.........its in something like a PDF but it wont let me highlite it??? Probably so people dont do that..... |
|
Just look at the Kyoto treaty. It doesn't do a damn thing against 2nd or 3rd world countries from emitting green house gases. It only penalizes 1st world countries. It's all just a scheme to transfer wealth from those that have it to those that don't on a global scale. It must be why the Liberals love that masterpiece of a treaty.
Scientists used to agree that the world was flat. They also agreed the Sun and stars revolved around the Earth. There are many other things scientists have agreed upon that turned out to be BS. |
Worked well for steam engines. Steam turbines. Rocket nozzles. You have a cryogenic handicap. That is what we call a reference fram error. Physical phase bigotry. If vapor isn't a gas, what is it? Liquid? No, compressible. Solid? No, its a fluid. Plasma? Most are non-conductors. So vapor must be a GAS PHASE. |
No, it is because you ignorant GW morons hoarde your data like Gollom's desire for a ring. "My precious data".... ![]() Yes, YOU CAN copy and paste from Adobe unless it is an image. Scratch that. Don't quote. Tell me what you know. |
"Although vapor and gas are frequently (incorrectly) used interchangeably, vapor refers to a gas phase in a state of equilibrium with identical matter in a liquid or solid state below its boiling point, or at least capable of forming solid or liquid at the temperature of the vapor. The term gas refers to a compressible fluid phase, as in common usage."- encyclopedia I can explain it to you if you like... |
|
It's a power grab, pure and simple. Kyoto would have a miniscule impact on global warming. All it would do is move industry to developing countries where they get a free pass on emissions. I expect that emissions would actually go up if we move ahead with it. Strangely, most of the support for global warming legislation comes from leftists and developing countries. |
Why Keith, you didnt let me explain the article. In fact, it was merely talking about where this "missing carbon" could be going. It wasnt an article to discredit you at all. |
There are many scientists that disagree that "man" is the culprit in global warming, they just are "overlooked" by the press and media. Why don't some people look at how these doomsayers live? To say they practice what they preach would be a complete fallacy. However YOU should change your ways and send lots of $$$$ to the UN. Look into the suns output over the last 25 years, [gamma off the top of my head] and tell me what has happened. |

Word is that our solar system is entering the galactic plane. The center of the galaxy, which is highly charged. This will effect all of the planets in our solar system. It is the cause of the polar flip every 100 million years. It was the cause of the end of the last great civilization that inhabited the planet and it will be the cause of our destruction. According to the Mayan's who were the best ever time keepers on this planet and still are today, the end will be in december of 2012. Good luck because only about 10% of the earths population will survive to grow out of the ruins. Coincidentally Kentucky is one of the safest places to be for the changes that will occur because of its volcanic and seismic stability. Ra |
WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? VAPOR IS GAS. ALL GASES CAN BE CONDENSED TO LIQUIDS AND OR SOLIDS. NORMAL ATMOSPHERIC GASES DO SO AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES. So, is propane a gas or a vapor? How about anhydrous ammonia? Butane? |
Gas Phase is not the same thing as calling it a gas!!!!!!!!!!! Read the definition!!!!!!!! It means it is formed of "droplets" in the SAME PHASE (liquid or solid) below the temp that the vapor is at!!!!!!! If you dont get it now you never will. |
What is the phase? You say it is not a gas and we know it isn't a solid. You cannot believe what you cannot see. And that is sad. Vapor is a gas and that is fact. The water vapor that is present in the atmosphere rises because it is bouyant, having a molecular weight less than either of the two most common species in air, oxygen (MW ~32) or nitrogen (MW ~28). Water's molecular weight is ~18. Clouds form at altitude because of the lapse rate reducing temperatures to the point where the VAPOR can CONDENSE into PARTICULATE clouds where particulate size is determined by static equilibrium, making a CEILING HEIGHT. Any higher and particulate size is too great to be bouyant, any less and the lapse rate causes the PARTICULATE LIQUID WATER to EVAPORATE, forming WATER VAPOR. Am I going to have to enlist my pilot friends here to explain how an aircraft can ice up in perfectly cloudless air? Deadly icing... You have plenty to learn. Sadly, you mind is closed. |
There aren't many of the leading scientists in the field who disagree. There are probably plenty of scientists who disagree but particle physicists and biologists don't count. Most of the leading scientists in the field are in strong agreement. I think the scientists would have considered the sun's output, water vapor, and all the other possible factors that are usually cited as alternative reasons for global warming. Even given these possible alternative reasons the leading scientists are still very confident they're right. I don't doubt that global warming is being used as a political tool and that there's lots of $$$$ involved. |
The ones who disagree are disenfranchised. Scapegoated. Railroaded. There is no room for disagreement in the climatologist field, even meterology as the AMS has stated. That is bigotry. You need a strong dose of Copernicanism. |
Not really true, there are plenty of scientists [there was a list I saw recently, can't remember where right now] in the field that disagree with much that is ballyhooed as fact. They also get no air time and thus are relegated to the sidelines. There is TRILLIONS of dollars at stake here, the vast majority from the US and other 1st world countries, and the scam of carbon shares and trading is a huge joke. Nothing but a shell game and we are the suckers. If man was the culprit, why don't the true believers of global warming put a bullet in their brains, and save the planet? Their loss would truly be a boon to "mother earth". |
Water that is present in the atmospher is single molecules. A gas (not talking about clouds and such). Good for you!!!! You now understand that clouds are indeed a VAPOR. They are made of water DROPLETS....not single water molecules. I have much to learn.... You cant compehend that a gas is single molecules while a vapor is made of particles (droplets) in a general term (note: I am being very general with that definition). In the lab we also look at iodine vapor.......From a solid (sublimation)!!!! I hope I dont confuse you with that one. You go ahead and keep thinking you can use the terms interchangeably. Go ahead and do that in a chemistry lab and you will look like an idiot in front of the chemists. With good reason.

And ironically, CAPITALISM is already moving industry to developing countries anyhow (which is a GOOD thing, when done thru natural supply & demand, not crazy envirowhacko legislation)... Outsourcing, anyone??? As for the UN and 'Global Warming'... Their motivations are pretty obvious... The majority of 'votes' in the UN belong to the 3rd world... The 3rd world will be the hardest hit if the enviroweenies doomsday predictions come true... We in the US can use technology to 'fix' any climate change... We have the money to keep a damn sub-sea-level coastal city dry (except when facing Cat4 hurricanes), etc... So the 3rd-worlders want international 'welfare' to protect them at the expense of the 1st world... 100% socialist

What I don't understand is that most of the above responses are on one side of the fence or the other. IMHO, who cares why its happening? If we know some resources are finite, won't a little conservation be in order? My guess is that it sure wouldn't be THAT difficult. |
That's right. It wont matter after 2012. |
Your "lifestyle" of consumption [standard of living] would have to drop 50% or so for it to make any difference from what I understand. In effect, you would live in a 3rd world country save for the rich folk who would go on living [and laughing at your poor ass] exactly as before. Scam. Don't fall for it. If you want to conserve to save money, that is understandable, just don't drink the BS Koolaid on "you're gonna DIE!!!!". |
No, they are not interchangable but rather a vapor is a subset of gas. All vapors are gas, not all gases are vapors. Vapors DO exist as single molecule species. It is all a function of energy and concentration. Egads, you are about as dense as tungsten. |

George Will had a good take on the subject this week: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16960409/site/newsweek/

It was global cooling 30 years ago... now we are warming. Why are we so naive to think the Earth and Sun don't have cycles? Global Cooling - NY Times |
About the only sane reason. Communism isn't needed in Heaven and it is already in Hell. RWR. |
Finally!!!!!!
|
Wow. Do you have a link? I'm not accusing you of lying or anything, but are you stating that Branson wants to destroy the industrialized world? |
Vapor is still a gas. You claimed it wasn't. And vapor is invisible. You claimed the opposite. You cannot see the vapor in clouds, what you see is CONDENSATE. Liquid particles. Iron Seeding |
