There are some posters that post pics of lowers with the full auto part on there as well. I think you you have to be 21 and the other question is can you convert the weapon legally or are those web pages trying to get you put in jail i have heard many different answers on this q just dtrying to find out if there are any knowlegable people on this forum about class 3 stuff I am intrested in getting a full auto once 21 and doing it the right way but also the most least expensive way as well.

Yes you can own fully automatic or select fire weapons. The cheapest way would be to scour the want ads, shotgun news, gunlist, etc. for one.

You can legally own a full auto in most states. Under federal law you have to pay a $200 tax, pass a background check (more intensive than NICS) and get permission from your CLEO (county sheriff or some such), unless you form a corporation or a trust (then you don't need the background check or the CLEO signoff).

You cannot convert a gun to full auto. You can only buy full auto weapons that were full auto prior to 1986. The going rate for a transferrable lower is between $8,000 and $10,000. A Colt M16 will run you about $15,000. You can get into a MAC10 for about $3,500.
