why do people buy a lightweight battle rifle such as an ar-15 and then install up to 10 extra lbs of junk/shit on it ? alot of what i have seen is redundant at best. is it to try and be tacti-kewl or what ? hell,by the time you flip all the switches and push all the buttons-you are probably exausted or worse--someone has shot a bullet through your head !!! kind of like putting curb feelers on a hummer. i guess i am just a fan of the k.i.s.s. method. i am not trying to start any flame wars-i am just wondering ??? dennis |

I think you need to be a little more specific as to what you mean as too much, i have a light, and an eotech on my m4gery, it is definatly not KISS. But to each his own, if someone wants to put an otal, light and aimpont with magnifier i see absolutly nothing wrong with it. how is it any of your damn business anyways, and why do you care. or are you just jealous? Good topic for your third post by the way... how bout this?  just a little food for the

While a headscratcher at first, it makes sense when the rubber hits the road: Soldiers and Marines bolt stuff to their rifles out of necessity, and no matter if their rifle weighed 7 lbs or 15, they'd be putting that stuff on there. Doesn't stop them from wishing they had lighter rifles to begin with, and I can't blame them. |

jealousy has nothing to do with this thread.i have owned a collapsable stocked m-16 with a 10.5 " bbl sinse 1986.along with a regular 16" ar-15.i've shot more rounds through these 2 guns than most people would even think about.the m-16 shorty has had just a tad more than 30,000 rds put thru it. so don't think that this has anything to do with envy. dennis |

I really did always think that was the point. Putting all that shit on an M1 would be stupid, but adding even 3 or 4 pounds to an AR seems reasonable with the benefits gained. |
Well, here's your answer. If you want or need all that shit, a light rifle is the thing to put it on. People here don't really get their feelings hurt, it's just that it's been done to death. |
