I have a HP Pavilion laptop. On the corner of the body is an area with a bunch of stickers describing subcomponets of the computer. One of them says "LightScribe" "Direct Disc Labeling". Now, the computer has several programs preloaded that will print paper sticker CD labels, but I can't find nything that seems to support "direct disc labeling". Anybody know anything about this? |
The drive usually comes with software. Basicly, it should let you create any type of CD sized label - graphics, text, etc - and "burn" the label the the entire CD/DVD. Av. |
I have the latest NERO, it supports Lightscribe. |
Plenty of pics of LightScribe-labeled discs:![]() ![]() images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=lightscribe -Troy |

I bought a lite-on DVD burner with Lightscribe. It burned the included CD-R just fine. I have tried 4 different brands of CD-Rs and DVD-Rs inlcuding Verbatim, Memorex, TDK and one no name brand. None of them will work! They burn the data just fine, but not the lightscribe label. Very frustrating. |

Try using the "Sure Thing CD Labler" (www.surething.com/ST/). Its a damn sight better Light Scribe labler than the software that comes with most Light Scribe drives. |
LightScribe only worked with media designed to be labeled in a LightScribe drive. You can't just label any old CD or DVD. And, yes, the LightScribe media is more expensive and much less readily available. I have a LS drive in my laptop, but I too much prefer to print CD/DVD labels via Epson inkjet printer using inkjet-printable blanks (from TDK and Verbatim). Far better than LightScribe, and the blanks cost much less. I suppose you have to add ink costs too, but that isn't significant for me. -Troy |
You have to use Lightscribe disks in order to "burn" the label. The top of the disk should be a solid gold color with no markings on them. Av. |
