any high standard pistol owners here? ive got a model 106 military and im having some problems with it.... |
|
well it shoots fine......except: i have the slide in the locked back position load and insert mag hit the slide release and the slide moves forward and catches the cartridge and doesnt go all the way forward if i push on the back of the slide it will chamber a round.....but only if i push on the back of the slide. any ideas? |

I've owned a few HS's and can recommend not using the slide release to chamber rounds, Pull the slide back and let it fly. Some need the extra oomph to strip a round out of the mag esp if the recoil spring is getting weak. You can replace the recoil spring too esp if it has it's original one. They are like $ 10 or so from Brownells/ Midway/ Wolff. |
tried.......still no luck, thanks for the suggestion though. im thinking maybe its catching on the ramp in the mag. maybe tomorrow i will put a file to it a little to get any burrs off it. |
| Supermatic Citation owner here. You need to look at a few things. First are your recoil springs weak? If the gun has many rounds down it I would just replace it. How is the tension on the front of the mag lips? Can you push a round out fairly easy? My mags need periodic tweaking. I may suggest that you either try some different mags or try to spread the lips at the front just a little. You would be surprised what a few thousands can do. |

i cant really say about the ammo......i havent shot the gun much so i havent shot too many different brands. ill hafta look into finding a new spring. and no i cant push a round out easily. but i cant tell if the lips of the mag are catching the round or if its the ramp. aaaaand....as for the trying different mags, well......they are 45 dollars a piece at brownells. if you know where i can get them cheaper that would be helpful. |
im pretty sure this is a gun my grandfather confiscated when he was a cop......im thinking it was manufactured in the late 60s sometime. is there anyway to run the serial number to see? |

They're actually in business here in Houston. Not cheap, but I'm sure the quality is very high. www.highstandard.com/ HH |
