My dad made fried macaroni when I was growing up, once a year I'll make some.

All you do is boil some elbow mac until it is soft then fry it in a little oil until it is crunchy again. Add some salt and pepper.

It brings back memories of childhood. I'm never going to eat SPAM again though.

Sounds great to me.

TGI Fridays sells fried cheese macaroni I believe. Now how do you make that?

Edited to add: Although it's January 2 and I am officially on a diet, I will try fried macaroni within the next 10 days!

Grew up dirt poor, fried macaroni was a way of life.  My mother would sometimes crack an egg or two into the mix if we had some (eggs) to spare.

Still enjoy it now and again even if it does remind me of those times.  When we had meat, it was usually Spam or beef kidneys.  Mom made a great kidney and potato soup.
