OK now that topics can run up to 100 pages we seriously need the ability to remove threads in our 'My Active Topics' section.  The MAT section is one of the primary reasons I am a member.

When threads were stopped at 40 pages there was at least some opportunity for threads to drop out  but now that they can run 100 pages there is no hope for them to fade away. I am getting EE threads from vendors that I asked a single question in, that never got answered by the way, from 2 years ago.

I understand the coding and programming is not the easiest thing to do and we now have options to "New School TAG" and subscribe and such but I like the ability to see my recent posts and the responses.

I am surely not the only person looking for this functionality. What say you?

Threads from two years ago are in your My Active Topics list?  That list should only have topics that have had posts added within the past few days.  When people stop posting in the thread, the topic should drop off your list.

I wish I had never posted in this thread.

Threads only go to the archive if they are inactive.  EE vendor threads keep getting bumped.

You'd think they'd start a new thread after a while.

Nope, that is so you don't have to post.

This is because old threads get brought back before they can get archived and if you posted in them they are still in MAT.

The EE threads are a special case, they go on forever.  Most threads just die a natural death and go away after the 72 hrs.  So a way to delete the ones that go on and on would be nice.

Here is another one that is a NON-EE thread that just won't go away.

Yes

Some threads I wish I would have never posted in because they keep showing up in my active topics for months.

I wanted to know if it was just me or if it was something that others would be interested in.  If it is just me, it is whining, if it is popular consensus, then it would be a site improvement.

I posted an idea for a general rimfire pistols section...  lo & behold it was created a couple days later.

I felt proud of myself.

While it may take 30 days for a trashed thread to disapear, some never go away.

You can accomplish the same thing by using My Tags. Just make it a habit to "tag" threads you post in. Problem solved.

The entire point of the tool is to track posts/discussions you are a part of. The only way to remove them would be to remove your posts from those threads, possibly destroying an important part of a discussion.

The TAG option is a similar list so you can quickly track posts you WANT to follow, whether you post in it or not. To TAG a post you do not have to reply in it, which was done to give you more flexibility in tracking conversations without the spamming of "tag" in a thread. (Thus bringing zero to the discussion.) Just get used to using this tool more than the MAT and you'll see it's much more to your liking.

When you click on my tags, if you hit the little red button with the "-" sign on it, they will go away.

Not always.

I've got one that was moved to the Mods forum and then locked. I cant un tag it.

OK, Thanks for the reply.  I am just use to how things were before the last upgrade.  I will start using the new feature more.

Ahh...  I haven't had that one.   I guess you should stop posting in threads that will get trashed.  Problem solved.

I'm kind of sick of seeing the test your avatar and sig line threads.

I thought the 100 page limit was a bad idea the moment I heard of it.  Right now I can't think of a single thread that deserved to last 40 pages.

I hate those too, I should have known better before I posted in them.

OK here is the crux of my problem, I use the MAT to find threads that I have posted in, I don't want to have to 'New School' TAG them too.

I have tried the 'NS' TAG and it is fine but the old school Subscribe did pretty much the same thing.

I understand the 'NS' TAG was to keep people from pointless posts and that is fine but I still would like to be able to clear the threads that I have posted in and no longer want to follow.

Maybe a possible solution would be to allow an option for posts to automatically 'NS' TAG a thread.

I'd love the ability to untag from EE feedback threads... Or any thread like that, where they serve their purpose and then you don't need to read them again...

Another great example.  I was "tagged" into one too, it finally died.  I have not bought anything else on the EE but I do dread the day I have to leave feedback now.

I have the same problem.

I asked about a price from Pete-In-NH about an upper about 4 years ago and I still have to see it in MAT.

I had one from him about RR 2 stage that hung around for over 2 years.
