Good LORD!!! Did you all see the kid that got clocked goin 142 MPH down Route 30 in NW Indiana!!! I wanna go shake that kid's hand!! It was a Subaru Impreza WRX STi. fuckin' A man. Story
Best part is my cousin knows the kid and the cop that pulled him over. The cop is actually the guy that put together his AR. That's freaking awesome. 142. damn. |
IDK, He's spoiled i guess... but i want one. I don't care if it get's labled as a ricer. it goes 150+ and has a 4 banger that gets 25 MPG highway. |
How about you put 5-6 years of driving under your belt first. |
|
I wasnt going to tell of my miss deeds, but... 170mph-in a 1985 Porsche 930, on I74 from I465 to the Post rd exit. 175mph-on a 1991 Suzuki GSXR1100 (1340cc bigblock piston kit with NOS) on I65 southbound between Lebanon to I465. 185mph-on a 2002 Suzuki Hayabusa (mild motor work with NOS) on SR67 between Mooresville and Martinsville. I am since much wiser, and proud that I dont do that sort of stuff, anymore. |

I'll probably get flamed off the board for this, but here goes anyway... At 16 years of age I don't think the kid has enough driving experience to handle a car at those speeds. Can he see far enough ahead with the headlights at that speed? What happens if he has a blowout at speed - does he have enough driving experience to handle the car in a situation such as that? How about if a deer runs across the road? What if he his an unexpected pavement pothole or something? Nope - 16 years old is too young. He should have been thrown in jail that night. LEO's let him drive home? Holy crap - imagine the lawsuit against the county/city had the kid hit someone *after* being given a pass by the cop to keep driving. OK, go ahead, flame me off the board... -Gator |
| A few years ago i was traveling south on hiway 5 going home from a girlfriends house in Sacramento. At the time i had an Acura RSX Type S, little 2.0liter 4 banger that pushed out 200hp. I had had some work done to the car, and i out ran the CHP doing 155mph for a good 8 miles stretch. He was going the other way, and when i blew past him, he turned on his lights and flipped a u turn over the large grass median, by that time i was already latelast 1.5-2 miles down the road. Keep in mind this is at about 2am in the middle of the week and the freeway was empty. I took the next exit and cut the back way to the next freeway. Now that i am a little more mature, and my driving habits have changed dramaticly, i wouldnt do it again, but it was sure fun as hell though. |
I can find no reason to flame you. |
I don't see why many people might flame you... disagreeing with the above would show someone to be rather retarded. At those speeds though, I question how much his age would matter, those speeds on public roads, and a large portion of the odds becomes a crapshoot. I'm amazed at the LEO'S reaction as well... But then, kids need to go try and kill themselves once or twice, it's natural :P |
OK... I love Mopars more than most anyone else in the world and have owned my share of the hottest and best, and I'm doubting this one. The 440 in my '69 GTX will only push the car to around 130 before the engine redlines (and it throws its fan belt before that anyway), and that's with the 3.54 gears in the Dana 60. -Gator |

142. That's movin' It's also the fastest I've ever gone in a vehicle. Did mine in 1989 in a 89 Mazda MX-6 GT Turbo. Felt like I was levitating. It was redlined and while it felt like it had more left, I knew there was a fuel cut-off in there somewhere. God, I loved that little car. |
Mach 1.2 - back seat of Phantom 1970 out of NAS Oceana. No, I was not a RIO but had a friend (JG) who was a Phantom driver. |
I know John pretty well. I'll have to tell him of his newfound ARFCOM fame! |
|
I buried the 155MPH speedo in a '68 Dodge Charger 383 Magnum. I have no idea how accurate it was really, but I was well up there... I'd already blown past a few friends... I caught and passed the CRX doing 90, then the '69 Mustang doing 110 or so. The really scary part was when the 30 year old suspension unloaded. I wasn't sure if i was going to die from pure terror or a cigarette butt or something in the road. I veeerrryyy slowly lifted my foot off of the gas, and once I was back on the ground I never took the old beast past 130 or so again |
