For Some reason my computer keeps running out or virtual memory,

I have deleted all the programs i can, and have deleted all temp internet files and everything i can think of.

The first time i saw the warning bubble, i set about cleaning up disk space, and uninstalled a few programs i dont need.

Then i am told i resolved the disk space issue, and that i had 561mb available, then, no more than 3 minutes went by, and then the bubble pops up and i am told i have 136mb available...

I don't know what to do.

Anyone have any suggestions?

If you only have 561mb available you need to clean a LOT more shit off of your hard drive.

That and you can also manually set the maximum Virtual RAM size.

How much RAM do you have? Is that 561MB free on the harddrive or free RAM? What OS?

Get rid of some files a lot of files or get a new bigger hard drive.

The problem will keep reoccurring until you have a lot more open drive space.

By default Windows seems to use between 384MB and 768MB of disk space to commit to virtual memory.  I'd suggest keeping at least 1GB free.

I set my virtual memory to three times the actual ram.

Make the initial size and maximum size the same.

You can move the pagefile to another partition.  The pagefile is the Windoze file that stores the virtual memory.

If the partition that has the pagefile is full.  You can move the pagefile to another partition to allow the virtual memory to have more room.  Otherwise you have to delete programs to give the pagefile enough room to function properly.

The others are right.  If you are out of HD space.  You need a new HD and have to move the pagefile to the new HD so the pagefile can work right.

Not Quite... let me guess your computer has 512MB ram installed.

It depends on the amount of Ram in the computer... by default windows can look for up to 1.5 times the amount of installed RAM.

For example my  laptop has 2GB ram... the page file (virtual memory) starts at a minimum size of 1.5GB and can grow to 3GB.
