Does the tire need to be totally flat in order to use this stuff? My tire has a slow leak & it doesn't say on the can if it has to be a complete flat or not. Thanks for any info |
Short answer- no. Let some of the air out,, and use the whole can. Immediately drive a mile or so, and check the air pressure in the tire. Fill to normal pressure. This is important! The next day, you need to purge ALL of the 'air' in the tire. Fix a flat used butane as a propellant, and it has exploded and killed mechanics who didn't know about it's use when fixing a tire. Let ALL of the air out of the tire, and fill with regular air. Do this at least twice. Be sure to let your mechanic know- even if the butane is out, the inside of the tire/rim is going top be all goopy, and he won't appreciate the suprise. |

I've tried using it on a slow leak, with the tire maybe 1/8 deflated. Got disappointed. If the tire has most of its air, then you won't be able to pump enough sealant into the tire before the tire is full. Let the air out till the rim is 1/2 way to the ground, THEN fill. Finish filling if need by at a gas station. ArmyCop has some great suggestions re. the butane in the bottle. Follow them. |
