I've already got 1K of Q3131 (bought locally, and for too much) but was looking for some quick ammo to get before things get weird around here.  Recommendations?  Battlepacks? Q3131/Q3131A? IMI M193?  Cost is not THAT much of an issue, but I'm not made of money either.  Thanks for the replies.

Also, what's the best way to store it on stripper clips?  I know that ammo cans are best, but I have no bandoleers, and all I've found on how to store in ammo cans is with the 4 or 7 pocket bandoleers.  How well does the ammo fit in a 30 cal or 50 cal ammo can if its just on strippers?  thx.

Yes, I have that idea.  I'm still wondering about WHAT to buy.  Do y'all trust the SA Battlepacks?  (no knee-jerk opinions.  Let's hear from people that have used it)  And storage.  I'm going to buy Monday or Tuesday, so need to know!  thx

I can get 1200 rounds in a 50 cal ammo can.  Make sure you alternate the direction for the clips.  Don't forget the dessicant.

7,
They're pretty.

I myself try to keep 10, 7 pocket bandoleers filled and in ammo cans. Everything else just stays in the boxes they come in. If sealed in plastic anyway.[uzi]

If I owned an ammo store I'd be trolling these boards right now to whip up a frenzy.

If you want ammo,  go to Southern Ammunition and order some. They have 1000 rounds of "dented" ammo for $84, and From what I've heard, most of it is not dented anyway. I'll let you know how it looks when I gt it tomorow. (I like that..Ordered on Friday in the afternoon, and it will be here on Monday. I'm glad that they are in South Carolina!!)

None that I own, unfortunately. But I have always had good luck with ammoman.com. He has free shipping which might help since you're in HI.

Personally, I store ammo on stripper clips inside of those small orange Gatorade-mix cans.  You can easily fit 90 rounds in them, and I have a large supply of them.  The rest is either still inside of battle packs or in ammo cans of various sizes.  I think keeping your ammo loaded into stripper clips is important.  Magazines are kept 2/3 full inside of my LBV.

And yes, ammo retailers would like nothing more than for you to blow a bunch of money on their merchandise.  I don't forsee an arab invasion of CONUS anytime soon.  Having a case set aside should be quite sufficient.  May I suggest looking into your food storage and water situation.
