Can I attach my ipod to a laptop that does not have the sofware installed on it?? I just want to charge it up.

Yes, I believe connecting the USB is sufficient to get the iPod charging.

Probably, just don't let the laptop try and auto-install software to 'talk' to it.
I have the wall-wart charger from apple, not very large, nice to not have to carry a 'puter while traveling if you don't need to.

OKay, cool. I thought I read somewhere, if you hook up an ipod to a computer without the software, you lose the music from the ipod. Maybe I was dreaming.
