If mag limit is not a concern, the BEST 9mm handgun is a Sig P210, it is the most accurate service type 9mm handgun there is.

What's best for [b]you[/b]? There are many very reliable 9mm handguns out there. Which one is best for you is like asking us which car is best for you.
One's to consider: Beretta M9 (M92) Smith & Wesson 5906 (politically unpopular) HK USP Browning HiPower (single action, but hi cap) HK P7M8 (small, reliable, single 8 rounds) Glock (probably one of the absolute best) Sig P226 The Sig's aren't known for their long term durability, but the 9mm's seem to suffer less from their frame crackings and pin hole elongations. I own a couple of Sigs, but I wouldn't have one as my only handgun since I like to shoot a lot and prefer .45 ACP. There are others out there. What you need to do is hit the local gun shop with a range and rental guns (if you have one local) and test fire everything they have. Try those on this list first then try some others. Be mindful that you usually get what you pay for. Avoid cheap - off brand handguns as they typically aren't your best option. Ergonomics and shootability are just as important as reliability. Also, remember you won't shoot your best with a gun on your first time out with it. Just find one that fits your hand comfortably. |

I have both a Glock 17 and a Beretta M9. I really like them both, but the G17 is a little more accurate. HKs, SIGs, and CZs are good, too, but I just don't like the way they fit me. My Glock 35 in .40 cal is my all-time favorite. Find what you like and train with it.

It comes down to how natural one feels for you and how much faith you have in it's flawless functioning. If I have to pick up just one handgun, it would be a Beretta 92FS. Try everything you like and see what works best for you.

Without a doubt the Glock G-17.
It will go BANG every time if the ammo is good and will function under conditions that will stop any other firearm out there. Read some of the reviews where the gun is mistreated with mud, dirt, water, even a " cow pie " and worked without a hitch. If you can get Hi-caps you have either 17+1 or 19+1 rounds of 9MM available in a standard sized package. There are a few out there with hundreds of thousands of rounds thru them that are still carried on a daily basis. |

Well... For you, in the PRK, Mag Limit's DO exist, so I would have to say that the Kahr Polymer is the Best 9mm for me! It's the most compact and lightweight 9mm that is a solid, well built, quality 9mm available. With absolutely no restrictions, then I wold go with a BHP. The Full Cap Mag's are dirt cheap by comparison to any of the others, except the CZ's. I do like the USP's, and many find the Berreta's to be a good choice, though one too large for my hands. Glock's, well they have a place, but I would opt for another choice. The are simply too thick for me to carry concealed, comfortably! It will come down to personal choices... I can't think of anything that is better than the Kahr, for concealed carry, and with the limits here in the PRK, You gotta ake do with what you can get anymore. |

I'd have to vote for my HK P7M8 unbeleiveably accurate.
If you are willing to bend your polling rules a little bit how about a .357 sig chambered pistol?? A 9mm bullet loaded into a necked down .40 cartridge. One hell of a BOOM when you let one of these go!! idaho-ar15 |

There is no way to answer this question, as there are a lot of very accurate reliable 9mm available.
However, you can not go wrong with: Beretta 92 H&K USP Glock Browning HiPower (next best thing to a 1911 in operation) Sig P210 (much better than 226 & 220) CZ?!?!? Someone must have been smoking rope. |

My .02 but I would think about the Glock 22 or 23. These are the 40's, but for around another 130-140 bucks you can get a 9mm barrel and bam!! 9mm handgun! You can also get a 357 sig barrel if you want:) the 9mm, 40 and 357 sig bullets will all feed through the G22&23 clips. Some say hell just buy the whole gun, I kinda like the option of changing barrels:)

Scarecrow, the best 9mm is the pistol that YOU can personally shoot the best. You can have a HKP7M13 for $1200, but its too big and you can't hit anything, how good is it? I have Sigs, HKs, Glocks and a Beretta and all are nice guns. However,my personal favorite right now is a SIG239. Its accurate and easy to shoot.

USP one of the Kings.. but here's others worth mentioning .. Walter P99 and Steyr M9. I have shot their cousins P99 in .40 and Steyr M40 and really liked them.

I have to say the Beretta 92FS. So far, I have put about 3000 rounds through mine, no failures to feed whatsoever, no jams, no nothing, except BANG. If you ask anyone who was at the Buffalo Range shoot, I shoot my guns HARD. Especially at the pit, TONS of rapid fire.
That day, I put 925 rounds through my beretta into the pit, and had NO problems at all. If thats not reliable, I dont know what is. I mainly did it as a test, and it passed with flying colors. Plus, it is VERY accurate. at 35 yards give or take a few, soda cans were easy as pie to hit. Plus, the gun does not bite when you shoot it. Hold a Beretta with hogues on it, and you will fall in love with it. Rack the slide, and you want 2, because they feel that good. Taking the gun to the indoor range is fun too, at 25 yards, 2 inch groupings are very possible. I have not yet been able to shoot as good as the gun, but we let a man at the range fire it, and he sent it back, and came back with the circle totally gone. (we make our own targets, white paper wtih a milk jug cap sized circle in the middle). I believe he was ex military, he sure "felt" like it. I would put my life on this gun ANY day. It has yet to let me down, and I dont see it letting up anytime soon. I have nothing but good things to say about the gun. Other firearms on my list would be the HK USP, and the browning. Not a Glock fan, dont like the way they point, and they are so "different" than other firearms, that you have to practice alot with them to be consistant. Or you could just buy about ANY other 9mm pistol, and not have to re-learn how to shoot. (unless of course, you already own glocks...) Well, thats my opinion. |

PROS:
Glock,toughest/most reliable/highest capacity/shoots underwater! Sig,test target accuracy /high reliability Highpower,cocked and locked but 14rds on tap USP,neat controls/the original accessory rail pistol CZ75,most comfortable/Da or Cocked and locked Sig P210,most accurate/cocked and locked HK P7,highly accurate CONS: Glock,no safety,crappy trigger,fat grip,ugly Sig,sheetmetal slide,aluminum frame,long triggerpull USP,my safety kept stripping out and that checkering is too pronounced to shoot more than a couple hundred rounds at a time CZ75,needs ramp polished to feed all JHP cheap finish,no accessories Sig 210,low capacity HK P7,very fragile mechanism in grip,gas piston fails and can cause the slide to crack that's my personal experience with those pistols I have owned them all except the 210 and I have settled on the Glock(with a 3.5lb connector)because I want absolute reliability and ultimate durability.I like 1911s and highpowers better for recreational shooting but the Glock is ready for Armageddon. sopmod btw:The Glock design is only absolutely superior in it's oringinal chambering,everything else is just a commercial afterthought. |

I sold my 9mm's to finance .45 purchases but then a Glock 19 came my way for a nice price. ($400 with night sights, 3 mags.) It is like shooting a rimfire with the way the Glock design handles recoil. It fits my hand very well and has not blinked shooting quite a few different ammos. It conceals fairly well also.

My USP is an early '94
and just the other day I messed around with a newer USP .45. I must say the trigger has improved a bit, but I wasn't crazy the smaller mag release. sopmodm4 you softy I added grip tape to mine. |

I think if you consider the design of the HK USP it would be very hard to beat. Great barrels (cold hammer forged) that have polygonal bores which reduce wear and increase muzzle velocity. The versatile control lever lets you custume fit your HK to your liking. You can get DA only, DA/SA, decock no decock, and either right or leftside. Recoil reducing spring assembly. Rated for +P and +P+ rounds. Tough space age finish on them. I have taken my USP out of leather holster hundreds of times and I don't see any wear yet. There is very little slide to frame wear because they don't really contact each other. I have shot about 1800 rounds through mine and have yet to have a malfunction of any kind yet and is more than accurate enough. Looks great and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Lots of good ones, some great ones. Over the years I've owned almost all of them for varying lengths of time. I always seem to come back to what I think of as the top three in their respective categories. The Browning Hi-Power, for single action, The Bereta 92 for a hi cap double action, and a Sig 225 for a somewhat compact weapon. Since being issued Glocks I've traded off most of them, thinking if I had to carry Glocks, why keep all the other stuff. The one I kept was Ber. 92 SS. If you just like the cartridge you could always pick up a Colt Govt. or Commander in 9mm.
