It's the same old same old, NATO get's called on their obligations and the french get cold feet. It's been the same since NATO's birth, the french for some reason still think they are a superpower when all they are is a moderate european country still living in the colonial ages. FTF Kuiper

F*CK the french, anyway! Allies, my *ss. The french are allies only long enough for us to yank the German boot out of their *ss.

I collect French WWII weapons because they are all in great shape......never been fired and only been dropped once!

If I remember correctly the French were also too pussy-ass to allow us to fly through their airspace to bomb Libya.

Thats why one of the F-111's 'accidentally' let a few bombs hit their embassy in Libya.

I think the French are preparing to surrender to Osama Bin Laden. No sense in putting off until tommorrow what you can do today.
Link Posted: 9/14/2001 5:41:43 AM EDT
Ah, the French. Always acting like limp-wristed lePricks. "French weapons - never fired and only dropped once" ROTFLMAO!

Don't worry about the French. I have sent the French government an email demanding its surrender to *me* by noon today. I expect to see a white flag shortly and I will be calling the shots over there by 6 p.m.

Oh man, Chairborne_Ranger, that is the best laugh I have had since Tuesday morning. Thank you, brother! Can I be your Minister of Pain once you have taken over the reins there?

Done, Jarhead. And one of my first official moves as the new French sovereign is to find some descendants of the Marquis de Sade. They may have some "special" skills that will be needed upon capture of certain individuals. Edited for spelling.

I remember a skit done by Rowan Atkinson where he's the Devil, welcoming new arrivals to hell. "OK, welcome to hell. I am the Devil, you may call me 'Toby'." "Now, let's get you all sorted out..." "Murders, please move to the left. Adulterers, line up in front of the table with the miniature guillotine. Thieves and robbers to the center. Looks down to his clipboard...."Oh! The FRENCH...where are you?...Yes move over there next to the Germans." Actually peed my pants the first time I saw it and almost do every time I see it again. Nicely sums up my attitude towards the French. My brother has a pile of frequent flier miles and wanted to treat me to a trip to Europe: "Great, Man, where we gonna go?...Paris?...Screw it, go by yourself." No lie.

Maybe we should do a flyover and 'accidentally' let some bombs fall on France itself.

The French have been dickheads to us even during WWII. My father was in Paris right after the liberation. He was on a streetcar once when a couple of GIs were horsing around. A couple of Frenchmen commented that they were worse than the Germans. My father, who speaks fluent French (Canadian French!), went up one side of them and down the other. Bunch of pussies. But, oh, they sunk the Rainbow Warrior.
Link Posted: 9/14/2001 6:38:31 AM EDT
To hell with the French! All they are is easy targets. They have never mounted or sustained any kind of defense or resistance. If you are not with us, you are against us. Kick them out pull all support to them and if they are ever hit say oh well........ [frag]

The French national self-image demands that they never be seen as a toady of the US. If you keep that in mind, you will never expect them to cooperate with the US/NATO, and they will never disappoint you. They like to think of themselves as still being one of the preeminent nations in the world as they were before the World Wars. That has flatly not been the case since DeGaulle's decolonization policies of the 50's and 60's at least, and IMO not since 1939. As a nation, they haven't had the ability to successfully prosecute a war since Napoleon Bonaparte was in running their show, and since that time their best troops were historically non-French nationals e.g. the Foreign Legion and North African Colonial troops. Now think about it, how would you feel if the US had become a 3rd rate nation, been bested over and over militarily by a neighboring nation, lost or gave up almost all possessions (including ones that had been full-fledged states), and the only part of our military that was worthwhile was made up of foreigners? Wouldn't YOU feel that it was important that we salvage a last scrap of our dignity by not being seen as todies to the Russians/Chinese/whoever? Whoever said "fvck the French" had the right idea. As a postscript, my uncles who served in Europe during WWII detested the French. A couple of amusing comments I heard them make: "The French make perfume because they don't know how to make soap." "In France, you couldn't step out a door and walk five paces in any direction without stepping in a pile of shytte."

Just when I was ready to change my mind about the French after watching TV this morning about all the wonderful ways our "allies" were supporting us, I go and read that....

Funny how our media "protects" us from knowing such things.

My Grandfather went over to France with Jack Pershing in WWI. One of the things I knew about my Grandfather was that while there, he developed a lifelong hatred for the French. Reading this article makes one understand clearly why.

Chairborne, don't worry as long as you signed you demand they will surrender. Hey can we figure a way to turn the Eiffel tower into some sort of amusement park ride?

Surrender Monkey joke time: "Why are the streets of Paris lined with trees?" "Because German soldiers hate to march in the sun."

The French have a history of appeasement when it comes to dealing with terrorists. In the '70's they had an agreement with the leaders of some major terrorist organizations- they could have sanctuary in France as long as they didn't commit any terrorist acts within the country. The terrorist leaders had to give up an occasional low-level flunky so that French intelligence (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) could make it look like they were 'fighting terrorism'. They are a bunch of sorry, cowardly bastards.

M Jospin said: "We must vigorously condemn and combat terrorism. But we must not allow ourselves to be led into considerations of a conflict between the western world and the Islamic world, where we have many friends and partners." WHAT? There are very few of the people that are our friends or partners. I think that after this is said and done we'll find out that we will have even fewer because we find that they're involved.

Youknow, it's a bit peculiar that these bilateral treaties we signeed for mutual protection seem to only apply one way. There are exceptions, like the Aussies and moste likely the Brits. These nations don't seem to realize - either you are for us or against us in this conflict. The US will tolerate coddling of terrorists no more. If you choose to stay neutral, you better stay the Hell out of the way...

Probably. And the French are just "starting" to be pricks?!? Give me a break. They are useless. We have committed more to the French in ONE 50 year period than they have ever given to the world combined. Useless pussyfooted fags.

Let's not forget that the French facilitated the American Revolution by supplying officers, arms, supplies, and funds.

Stoic, I am tired of hearing about the French being swell because of their help during the American Revolution. That was just enlightened self-interest to screw with their arch-rivals of the day, the Brits. Let me know when you can think of an instance the French did anything that didn't directly benefit, guess who, the French.

Even the Germans were amazed at the speed of the French occupation. When they got there the French were falling over themselves to kiss their boots. Not to rain on the parade, but I lived in France for a while and it was OK. Great food and they were generally very nice, much nicer than the English. Kind of a unique little culture too, which was interesting to experience. Although some of their elites may despise us, the common people really love Americans and American culture.
