Whats a good way to show side work? For the last 5 years in addition to my regular jobs I have done computer service work as an independent contractor for all the big box stores and a few other companies doing upgrades and installs and stuff. Whats a good way to show that in a work history? |

List all your positions by date present job first then the odd jobs. For instance if you do xyz from 10/01/05 to present and also have done side jobs list 10/01/05-Present. XYZ Job Title Brief descrition Bullet point a few accomplishments 12/01/05-1/10/06. XXX Job Title Brief description Bullet point a few accomplishements So on and So on. Trust me this is the proper way to show work history on a resume. Dont list references on a resume, they are a waste of space don't even put references on demand or at time of interview.....Nothing don't mention them. |
Normally I would agree. However, when trying to get credit for independent jobs done by the applicant, that is the only way to add credibility. Thats why I said to list them on a separate sheet. So not to clutter up the original resume. I have interviewed hundreds of people in my time. This is how I would like it presented. I'm no expert. So my advice is worth what you paid for it. |
I would agree with you. However, the resume is to get you an interview and hired. Once hired most 99%(not all) companies have you fill out an application. The application is were the references go. Resume is to highlight your accomplishments and experience. Pperiod end of story.
